  I asked Abs - that kind of set up is a nice idea but the issue she raised is about guaranteeing how respectful people would be if she said no. This has been covered in a recent forum topic about how to deflect an approach when as a single woman it’s hard saying no. And in many conversations I’ve had with partners past, they’ve often cited the uneasiness with how approaches are handled or managed when they’re alone in clubs of various themes. A suggestion I recall from an ex play partner was traffic light wrist bands. Green is open to approach and likely fuck, yellow is conversation only and red is “I’ll approach you if I like the look of you but may just wander and browse”. I know it isn’t perfect and I’m a guy answering but perhaps it can help with the thought process.

  For a meet and greet event, I would expect the host to actually host the event. Knowing who their guests are, who is there alone, first timers, experienced etc. The host should introduce people to each other, 'hey x, met x and x' the host should help get the conversation going then move onto the next. The host should also identify if anyone is standing alone or if someone looks like they need 'rescuing'. Your guests will feel welcome and most likely have a good night and return to your next event. Good luck, I think its a great idea what you are arranging.

  We run verified couples events, we both host, mix and mingle and engage with attendees. As a social event, in a private space in a licenced venue, it is not a play party full of predatory males. So far. The feedback from our events has been overwhelmingly positive, with many couples returning. Also, as Newcastle has a fragmented lifestyle scene, we create a safe space for newcomers. Who we check in on during our events to ensure they are comfortable. The "dodging bullets" scenario seems misplaced, but we do note you are a single male.
