Where are you finding these guys? I can honestly say Ive only met one that was dressed a little too casually for where we met. And they have always taken care with how they looked and all smelled nice. Its a shame if thats been a repeated experience for you. Maybe when you organise the meet, you could mention to them that you will be neatly dressed, groomed and aftershaved and would like the same from them

I know it's a common stereotype, but I've come across a great many gay men who weren't into fashion and grooming.

We have been to a club in Brizzy where there where guys in hi vis. We did one lap of the premises and left. Cleanliness is next to sexiness.

I may not always be clean shaven, but I always dress well when going out, always clean with a good spray of aftershave, either Jazz, or Issey Miyake for men, depending on how I feel, I always wear a shirt, pants or good pair of jeans, depending on the destination, socks and shoes of course, thats me sorted.

I'm afraid you lost me at "always". What a stereotypical generalisation to make, and not my experience at all.

I actually totally agree with the OP in terms of clothing , I've experienced this quite a bit.. I always appreciate it when an effort is made, if no effort is made it can make me feel overdressed too which is never a comfortable feeling.

Aussie men in general are scruffs. Probably more so in WA though.

Stereotyping. It takes all sorts to fill the jelly been jar... and if you don't like what they are wearing.. maybe try a different jar. - Posted from rhpmobile

I disagree that all gay men are well groomed and all straight men are slobs, but I agree that grooming and clothing do play a big part in overall impressions. I recently met a guy for coffee for a first meet, and he was dressed in a daggy and ill-fitting t-shirt, very casual shorts, and thongs. We were just doing coffee so I obviously didn't expect a shirt and tie, but he looked like he was dressed to go fishing. In the end it probably wouldn't have changed things as there were a few reasons I wasn't attracted to him, but it certainly didn't do him any favours.

While it is a popular stereotype helped on by tv and media a lot of the gay men I've met socially dress like pimps, no style whatsoever just "look at me" kitch. Whilst others dress like teenagers half their age, like money, age or sexuality don't guarantee good taste.

All of the straight guys I have met in the past few years have been well dressed, well groomed and have all smelled divine lol. Thats sad for you to have met sloppy ones. I always meet for coffee first and if they didnt care what they looked like then i wouldn't meet them for sex. Grooming is a big part of sexual attraction for me. - Posted from rhpmobile
