Contraception and Libido

November 02 2018

Question: Has any other woman noticed a difference in their libido when they stop taking contraception? In a positive way? Recently got my Mirena removed and have definitely noticed a decent change? Also noticed it when I stopped taking the pill when I was younger? Thoughts? - Posted from rhpmobile

Recently stopped taking the pill due to it causing health problems for me... felt not only an increased libido but a generally better feeling of wellbeing - Posted from rhpmobile

Hate hormone contraception. Always lowered my libido. Stopped taking it nearly 20yo. - Posted from rhpmobile

Oral contraceptives have lowered my libido in the past. However the Mirena, not so much increases my libido, but did help me to stabilise my hormones and feel a better sense of well being and safety which in turn allows my high libido to be free 🤷‍♀️ Now I actually am required to have both oral and Mirena..... all I can say is I can’t stop lol I’m like a man in my sex drive and desires 😈🚀🦁 - Posted from rhpmobile

I went off the pill and rediscovered my sex drive. I’m like a guy now. I’ve gone with a copper IUD. Unfortunately, the downfall is a longer period.

I have to say I've had neither of those. But I can say that I had a hysterectomy a year ago and my libido has increased so much more!! I feel like at times I may have an addiction to sex now, which was definitely not me prior to the operation. And I certainly enjoy it more now than I ever have.
