Its real. its a real mans body. Some of the profile pics on here look like oiled statues, and while its pleasant to look at and I appreciate the hard work that goes into looking like that, I like a guy with a normal (or "average" in RHP speak) body. Im not a toned size 8 myself, I like my pizza and wine and anyway, if you like someone enough to be sharing a bed with them. body shape isnt the most important factor.......

He sounds great, where do I meet him? I hope his bike ride won't interfer with Sunday paper over brunch.

My pic is me and I am happy the way I am. Not interested in a 6 pack, been there done that. I'd rather have a life then be in the gym for hours a day. No offence to those that do that, all the power to you.

why not... they are more realistic and representative of the 'real' men I want to meet in real life. I dont want to meet men who spend most of their waking hours pumping away in the gym ( i prefer them pumping me. kidding). i don't have a model body but look after myself, am petite (5'4") and definitely love my food (won't shy away from a good spread of tapas). I am your average woman and am realistic on what type of men I want to meet and can meet. Anyway, if i make a connection with a man and i am attractive to him, and him to me, body build becomes secondary. Dad bod or not, as long as he treats me well, that is all that mattters. I have met both good and awful men on both sides of the body build fence so body size is not indicative of how great they are. If he turns out to be a great guy with well-oiled hot bod man, who am i to say no? hubba hubba

I'm very active and I'm fit. I like to tell everyone that I do have some nice abs, but they are carefully hidden under the remnants of my other passions - like fine dining and social drinking. To get the well defined abs you see in so many profile shots here you need to spend a lot of time in the gym, and be very careful about what you eat - the washboard only appears when you are very lean. I had them in my youth, because all I did in my spare time was train or play sport. These days I have so many other interests it's just not going to happen. And I'm perfectly comfortable with that. Funnily enough I prefer that in a woman too. Fit is great, because I really like to be active, but I'm just not into the body builder look at all. I'd pick a little extra padding over lean muscle every time. That said, the athletic sports body is different to the gym bunny body. If I could have the AFL footballer version without giving up everything else that's dear to me I'd take it. Each to their own of course.

Due to a combination of foot, calf, hamstring and lower back issues I haven't been able to 'properly' exercise for 12 months or so. Am on the homestretch now, though. Anyway - I've lost a little bit of the tone I had (not too much) and due to eating accordingly have put on 1kg in that time. As Simon said, irrespective of injury I have too many interests and commitments to spend hours a day in the gym. So yes - Dad bod. Very comfortable with it too. - Posted from rhpmobile

I ride a bike pretty much every day- only for a few kays but its better than nothing so yeah dad bod for me. I've no time for the gym at all anymore. My 'Ab' can vary in size depending on what I'm into at the time and its quite easy for me to lose weight as I"m pretty strict when the need arises, Easter was a real killer though I hit 90kgs. These days the only 6 pack I crave is found at Dan Murphy's or BWS - (yes sorry someone had to post it ) so yeah Dad bod +1 for me and of course you :)

It's interesting to talk about the issue of body consciousness. I'm probably in the same category as 50zcool and, like some of the female responses on this thread, I find the 'perfect' bods a bit intimidating. But a couple of recent experiences have taught me that there is a whole lot of arousal that comes just from being with someone who 'wants you' - as opposed to some one who can 'have you'. So I now place more value on that aspect. Good luck with the riding...especially in this weather!!!

When did the average, middle of the road... non-extreme obesity... non extreme lean.... .... become a trend? The "dad body"??? Pfffffffffft. Plenty of non dads have the shape they're referring to. ITs just another silly label.

the unrealistic standards of "desirable" female bodies applies to men's as well..I perfer "Dad bod" to a "6pack". I like reality - if I wanted a dream I go to the movies or read a book :)

I am sure most of you have seen those commercials for one of the insurance companies (the one with the 2xAs in its name) starting 2 guys: Neil and Gaz In one episode they had a car accident on their way to a fancy party - one of them dressed as a sexy nurse and the other one as a firefighter. The firefighter one got stuck on a tree after chasing a cat.. I must admit I just cannot take my eyes of these 2 actorsTo me they are the sexiest male actors I have ever seen - if you guys are out there and single please please please send me an email - YOU ARE MY DREAM MAN! not kidding those 2 guys are WAY MORE SEXY in my eyes than any CK or runway model or male strip dancer....

See these type of threads all the time and finally going to put forward my 2c. This is Mr Unicorn and I spend an hr a day at the gym/exercising 4-5 days a week, not much different to OP, am in my early 40's and a dad. Yet most on here want to be little anyone that actually gets results and has some discipline to stick with, in today's society it isn't acceptable to tell someone they are fat but people seem to have no issue saying someone is to fit. I look how I want to look for me, I don't judge others if they are happy to look the way they do. Muscles/abs don't equal vain and dumb anymore than chubby/wobbly equals unhappy and smart. PS I also drink beer and eat KFC at least once a week - Posted from rhpmobile

So I've gotta jump in here and back up Mr. Unircorn. Like him. I have a discipline to my workouts. I don't spend a huge amount of time in a regular gym, but I do stick to what I have found works very well for me. I get a lot of bang for my buck with respect to the time I spend and the results that produces. And yep, I enjoy my pizza and beer and all that jazz. Here's a real whopper for people too... I don't do it for anyone else! Nope. I do it for me. I enjoy the strength and movement training I do, I enjoy what it allows me to do in life, and I enjoy the way I feel as a result. If all of that also produces a toned body that offends or delights others... then that's just what happens. I work out to BE strong... mentally, emotionally, and physically. For me, strength has a greater purpose. I will always be a student of strength... in all its forms.

is ironic. Just be happy whatever skin you are in. If you need to reflect on or judge others who look fit, then perhaps it suggests that all is not happy in your world, just as the opposite is true. I work out, I eat out, I own a business, I work hard, I have been heart broken...........just because i'm in shape doesn't mean I haven't lived :)

Doing it for yourself AZOZCouple. The great side benefit of this is that it makes you feel good about yourself (not for how you look, but how you feel), and I believe that you will then project that happier, more confident you to others as well. I am simply a slim built guy and need to eat enormous amounts of food to put on any weight. It's too hard to do and makes me feel like I'm plundering the worlds resources for such an egotistical reason...and so I am largely content with the shape I am. Him. - Posted from rhpmobile

So can we get 'Dad Bod' as a profile option when selecting our body type then?

I do it for myself. An hour a day isn't much for me, I'd rather that over watching an hour of news+current affairs. C'est la vie! - Posted from rhpmobile

Quoting 'Mischeviouslad' The coined phrase "the dad body".... is used in the way of trends... fads..... its just.... weird. Have there ever really been fads for men's bodies though? Or is this just a thing a few women's magazines have coined and it has taken off at the moment? Just because Leonardo DiCaprio has let himself go a little. Meh....... his wallet is big enough I hear. For women it was voluptuous, super slim, hour glass, pear shape, triangle, BBW, petite, straigh, oval, diamond, etc, etc. Why is that not weird then?

Stating you are happy with the way you are isn't judging others who are not like you. Some of us have decided that a routine that creates a "dad-bod" is right for us, and we are happy with the results. To do more than that would take more time that we either don't have, or don't want to allocate to exercise. Pretty sure that's all that's been said. We've also found that some women like really toned bodies and some don't. That's a personal preference, not judgement. I've looked over this again and seriously can't see any judgement. PS - I'd never heard the term before this thread, and feel a bit silly using it.
