I love storms! All that crackling energy fizzing around is fantastic. The clap of thunder overhead, lightning in the distance and the sudden downpour of rain - absolutely adore it It's even better when the power goes out and lighting a few candles then getting busy with creating your own crackling energy with someone while watching mother nature put on a show

One of my all time favourite places when I was younger is a property we used to go camping every second weekend. It was up in a granite rock outcrop in the hills. You could not see a house at all for miles and the water coming out of the sides of the hills was ice cold and amazing to drink after being filtered from the granite sand.I was at the very top of this outcrop one time about 4 pm on a summers afternoon.Within a few minutes the sky went from pure blue to a dark grey.A fork of lighting then came to earth and for the next 40 minutes or so I just sat there and watched the most amazing electrical storm I have ever seen. I know sitting up on a rock is not the smartest place to be but it was just so hypnotic and to be honest there was nowhere I could have sheltered anyway. It storm passed as quick as it came and returned to blue.I have never forgotten that storm and ever since then I have had the fantasy of fucking ( making love would not be raw enough for this instance) out in the middle of an electrical storm. Don't think it gets much better than the storm Freya. That build up and then the sweet hit, kind of like sex or a drug. Pardon the pun but it is electrifying and if a little inclined like me a huge adrenaline rush to be out in it. Maybe because I rarely get to be on the coast and have fond childhood memories of times down Ocean grove way a storm on the beach is the ultimate for me. I was lucky enough to see a beauty up at Cape Tribulation many years back.

.. at the foot of the Magaliesberg mountains and every afternoon during summer, large thunderclouds would build up, as the skies darkened. There was an energy and tension in the air, as the parched earth of the Savannah waited in anticipation for its cooling bath. Then came the first rain drops, beating a slow, heavy, steady rhythm on the dry, red clay. We remember the smell that only summer raindrops on hot red parched African earth can make .... The storm would build in intensity , thunder & lightening and then within the hour blow over, after which the sun would come out and life would continue. Everything washed clean. - Posted from rhpmobile

totally agree with you Freya. I love watching storms and the clouds change and spin around and the day get darker. everything feels fresh when the rain starts and if the wind blows it makes you a little tense

When it's summer and a storm is getting closer. The pressure in the air, the rumbling and flashes of light in the distance, getting closer... The combination of heat and anticipation of what is to come make for a super charged atmosphere.

in the 'weather affect your mood' thread. I don't miss much about South Africa, but the storms were awe inspiring. you just dont get weather like that here. Mind you, its one thing to watch safely from a window, quite another to be out in it.

The smell of dust after rain. Love. I adore storms. I've never been naked in the summer rain, Jennylee - in fact, I've never been naked outdoors! But I do love the sound of that. I love walking in the rain. I love curling up with a book and a blanket during stormy weather. I love curling up with a lover as the thunder rolls outside.

something primal about a big electrical storm, the unleashing of power and the potential danger makes for goose bumps. But a warm summer night...bare, slightly sweaty skin and a warm breeze. Just perfect.

of partial to coming in from the cold, I like being out there working on great big logs out in the bush, heavy, too heavy so chainsaw, axe and trolley, piece by piece roll it off the side of a mountain, winch it up a cliff, look for the run of the ground that makes for the best track to cart the wood to the splitter, I have a crane, it's an off road application old International Harvester tractors were built for the forestry commission and that now helps to lift those big old logs and turn them into handy sized pieces of kindle for the fire I enjoy building in the open fireplace in the lounge room nice and warm because Tara doesn't like the cold, she likes to be nice and cosy, ying and yang, what goes up must come down, opposites attract each other, empathy and compassion, love for lust or maybe just that she is my best friend, that nasty bitter gloomy cold old weather makes for making love nesting in a feather doona by the flickering flames and fire fairies amongst the embers, warm glowing light so private we canoodle and do things to each other that we really really like. And yes thunderstorms are wild and rather sexy too. Mado Mado Tara xx

I was lucky enough to spend a couple of months in Russia. Maybe it was how wonderful I was feeling or that it was something I had never experienced here in Australia. A true autumn. Very crisp days, complete forests of colour and bright blue skies. Rather special and very sexy

The temperature has dropped by almost ten degrees, my house is full of mud and both my dogs have now decided that going outside to pee (a whole five meters' walk) is just not worth the drama.
