Good news

January 10 2016

For those who love "The Conjuring" movie. "The Conjuring 2" is set to release in our cinemas on 10 June 2016, which I cannot wait to see! 😋 Hopefully part 2 is as good as it looks in the trailer, and as good as part 1. I'll sure be watching it more than once, or twice 😛 How many horror movies fans are there on RHP I wonder? Did you like The Conjuring 1? - Posted from rhpmobile

Me! :D I started watching horror movies when I was a toddler! My parents would disallow it, but I would sneak up into the living room, hide behind the couch, and watch anyway! LOL!!! I think James Wan is a brilliant Director and am looking forward to that movie you mentioned.

For really potent horror movies that will spook you, try Asian horror. The Japanese, Koreans, Thais and even Hong Kong'ers make pretty awesome horror movies! Examples : Rigor Mortis (HKG) The Eye (The Asian version, NOT the lame Hollywood version. :P) Dark Water (Japanese) Shutter (Thailand) I can't recall anymore at this stage. I found the remake of Poltergeist to be rather good! I don't get spooked by horror anymore. I watch it alone, in the dark, after midnight. LOL! ;)

My best shot to date is The Grudge in Japanese version. You must watch the Japanese version, not the Hollywood one. I won't give away the details as it's best that you watch it for yourself to see if a particular scene of that movie would make you not want to sleep for a week 😛 - Posted from rhpmobile

Is right about watching Asian horror movies, ana123, especially the Japanese, they are the creepiest and scariest horror movies maker 😛 - Posted from rhpmobile

I'm glad to know that there's someone into horror as much as I do, if not more than 😛 I watch horror movies alone too and prefer it that way, so that my arms and laps don't get bruised from the pinches and slaps from my friends lol I have enough with some people who cannot separate from movies and the reality lol I must say, I haven't seen all of the movies you listed above, will find some time to watch them 😛 And as I said to ana123, my top favourite so far is the Japanese version of The Grudge! To me, no horror movies made in the past two decades can beat The Grudge 👽 I thought The Ring was good, but not after I watched The Grudge 😛 - Posted from rhpmobile

Definitely a fan of horror movies. There aren't too many though that fill the audience with horror and dread. Some good horror movies that are frequently mentioned are: It Follows The Grudge Blair Witch Project The Conjuring Annabelle The Thing Paranormal Activity etc. - Posted from rhpmobile

I've seen The Conjuring, but it didn't really do much for me and I didn't find it very scary. Not many of the mainstream Hollywood horrors appeal to me these days, they're too cliched and the scares are usually very predictable. And don't get me started on the Hollywood remakes of foreign horrors...ugh. I particularly like the movies that rely more on psychological horror...what you don't see and what you imagine is often much scarier than overt monsters, blood and gore. I'm also a big fan of the found footage genre, when it's done right that is. Some of my faves are: The Blair Witch Project The Shining The Tunnel (Australian) Lake Mungo (Australian) Absentia It Follows The Grudge (Japanese version) Shutter (Thai version) REC (Spanish version, apparently the American version Quarantine isn't bad but I haven't seen it) Wyrmwood (Australian, I don't find this one scary but love it for other reasons)

You must watch Asian horror movies get the ultimate horror and dread that you're after :-) Hollywood horrors are not too bad as long as the films aren't the remade of the Asian version such as, The Conjuring. - Posted from rhpmobile

I've seen Wyrmeood too and liked it because it was an Aussie made film with minimum budget, but they did an excellent job given the small financial budget obtained. Besides, it was funny and I liked the idea of zombies still have the sense of following order from the zombie leader, which is kind of giving hope that humanity won't be totally lost in the crazy world of medical science 😛 I have heard of The Tunnel several times, but haven't got around to watch it yet. But saw It Follows and thought it was good, even thought The Grudge (the first version of the Japanese version that is. There were two versions of the Japanese version) is still my top favourite so far :-) - Posted from rhpmobile

Like anything else in life, we all have different liking/taste in the horror movies department. So, what appears to be horror and scary to me may not to you, and vice versa :-) hence whatever that can get you sitting on the edge of your seat, is a good horror to you, IMO :-) - Posted from rhpmobile

Hi Sweetgem. Thanks for that. I will have to watch the Japanese version of The Grudge fully as I have only seen bits and pieces. I also agree with LD that sometimes what you don't see is worse than what you do. That last scene in The Blair Witch Project was freaky. - Posted from rhpmobile

I'm watching it again now. I'm not a huge Jack Nicholson fan but he is brilliant in this one. The wife annoys the crap out of me though.

Quoting 'Jay0122' I will have to watch the Japanese version of The Grudge fully as I have only seen bits and pieces. The Japanese shit all over Hollywood when it comes to creating a real atmosphere of horror and suspense, IMO.

Series are my current love and I'm chained to watching them almost every night 😛 I liked season 1 of the American Horror Story, but not 2, and so I haven't gone back to buy the rest of the series. Which season are you on now Freya? - Posted from rhpmobile

I would recommend to watch the Japanese version of The Grudge 😛 Then nothing would be scary enough after that lol I got to see the original version (before the Japanese government banned it) of The Grudge and couldn't fall asleep, for two hours, after I got into bed on the night I watched it lol unfortunately, what is available for viewing of The Grudge (Japanese version) nowadays is the remade of the original with the tone down of its horror :-( but it is still way scarier than the Hollywood version :) I liked The Conjuring simply because it was the best Hollywood horror movie that came out in 2014, and best entertainment for me in that year 😛 - Posted from rhpmobile
