A wonderful convenient way to keep up with what's going on in various interest areas and also the history of many things. For those who enjoy food there is a good one called Gastropod :) And for more general curiousity in science etc there is Inquiring Minds To name a couple :) - Posted from rhpmobile

Logic Problems/puzzles, was referred to them when I was a teen - not quite sure what they meant by that - addictive to all buggery. A good bicycle ride while listening to some podcasts (Myf Warhurst and Zan Rowe's ''Bang On'' is my current favourite) exercises both the body and the mind. Jigsaw puzzles whilst listening to some chillout music both exercises and relaxes the mind at the same time. Reading a good book. Finally, a good couple of hours blowing stuff up on my PS4 a couple of nights a week does wonders for the mind, believe it or not.

I spend my work days thinking hard, solving gnarly problems and basically doing my best to slow down the universe from its annoying tendency towards maximum entropy. Einstein said creativity is intelligence having fun... or something like that. For downtime, I like to get creative. For me, a curious mind is a most precious, beautiful thing. Over the years, I have met some wonderful, sexy smart swinger ladies that crave mental simulation discussing sex, sexuality and kink. For fun, and to satisfy my creative side, I spend hours crafting witty, sexy emails and texts to these handful of ladies. Also, I like to solve hard sodoku problems, write in complete sentences with punctuation/ grammar and practise being right. It keeps me busy. G - Posted from rhpmobile

None of the gym junkies will turn up in this topic will they, and since I hang around them, no wonder you haven't seen me 😂😂 To answer your question, I don't, that's the problem 😉 Alright, I'll admit I do like logic puzzles but they shit me, we have a love/hate relationship 😠

I love being active and enjoy competitive sports (never liked gym), as I find that to be challenging for my mind as well. I do not separate that from any other activity that makes my heart skip a beat and that mushy grey area between our ears go wild and lighten up. There is this one thing that I can never do... multitask. I just hate it and never do well. I do not like being distracted in whatever I am doing. I can spend hours and hours doing one thing and never, absolutely never get bored. My curiosity gets stronger the more I know about something. I love learning new things and observing people. I also love self reflecting. Yes, I love to dive into a book, but I always try to carve out some time just to be alone with my thoughts.(Ms)

going back to Uni is the best thing I ever did for myself. I graduate at the end of this year and will probably go on to do more study. Love it!

Always keeping an open mind to the world around you works to keep the mind active I feel. There's so much going on and always new things to learn. I just started guitar lessons too so that hurts the brain a little. And my fingers 😣 - Posted from rhpmobile

It is continuously busy all the time (as I am a deep thinker - an Ampath thing) and I try each day to deglutter any crap. Recently I gracely accepted a management role offered to me at work, am involved/organising in a few fundraising events (men's cancer), also planning an upcoming trip interstate and an overseas trip in the near future. I also make time to go to the gym and while I'm there, my mind zones into listening to music (an escape), which I do enjoy. I make sure I eat healthy and get plenty of sleep, which for me totally rests my brain/mind, as a shift worker that's really important to me. I really try hard, to keep my mind and head space at a pretty Healthy, stable, calm state by doing/thinking things that don't fuck with it, which helps me stay cool, calm and collected. I need to do that, to make good choices/decisions. 😊 Ms Foxy

Are my current addiction, quick games here and there on my phone. There are ninja sudokus in the Sydney papers if I remember correctly, 5 interlinked 9x9 grids, brilliant!! Need to find a book of those somewhere. Poker is another real test of the mind, play it online a bit (not as much as I used to)....I've had several arguments about which is the harder game, poker or chess...they get quite heated! Civilization V on the computer, amazing strategy game, and then just some mindless shootem ups on the Xbox to relax :-) And for anyone into boardgames, I can thoroughly recommend one called Scythe...a brilliant strategy game with the most amazing artwork and playing system.

You will love it! You might find it daunting at first, but persevere! Mature aged students tend to be more organised. Are you studying online or on campus? In your first year you may feel a bit overwhelmed by the number of school leavers, but they are quite accepting of older students - by the time you get to third year you'll find there's more mature age students or young ones who are very serious about learning. - Posted from rhpmobile

And varied responses..the body and mind are linked of course ..I think many people who enjoy exercising their minds also enjoy exercising their bodies. I have recently started to regularly listen to classical music..in the past I was never all that interested in listening to music but it definitely lifts my mood and hopefully increases my intelligence :).Changing my neural pathways perhaps .Q

I have started doing hot yoga, concentrating on the postures and breathing keeps the mind from wandering and helps me feel focused. Just applied for a post-grad degree at uni. Which will be challenging because I feel scattered at the moment. I hope the commitment will give my focus a kick in the butt if I get in. The last six months I have struggled to read or stay engaged in things that would previously kept me occupied for hours. Sigh! Probably need to meditate more and get offline. - Posted from rhpmobile

indeed do not be scared And as freogirl has said, you 'll probably love it. If you feel uncomfortable because of those young faces surrounding you, don't be, as you progress you'll find more and more people like yourself. And probably your University, like so many others, has a club for mature age students...so it will be exciting and fun. Think of present. Now is what matters. Now never comes back. Qefenta, what kind of classical music do you like? May I ask why recently? (Ms)

For the last few years it has been study, but I've now finally finished my degree and starting the daunting task of looking for my first job in that field. One of the good things about the area I studied in is that there are many different settings you can work in, so it's unlikely I'll ever become bored and I'm sure it will continue to challenge me mentally. I'd also like to do some sort of postgrad study at some point. I also love to learn new information in general, including related to current events both locally and globally, and I follow a lot of different sources of news and interesting information about lots of different topics on social media. I also find that my mind is sharper when I'm more physically active. Our mental and physical health is inextricably linked with one affecting the other.

I need to fully concentrate the whole day at work and sometimes at night it feels like my brain actually hurts ☺️ I'm lucky that the Harbour Bridge is between work and home and a colleague and I have recently started walking over it nearly every day after work. I find this really helps to clear my mind and it's also helping me to get fitter for City2Surf in August. I love reading and I play loads of games on my phone. That's my escapism. I have a very curious mind so if I come across a word that I don't know the meaning of I Google it. Any kind of word puzzle and yes, Sudoku.

Sorry I can't work out how to do quotes properly but ... I'm lucky that the Harbour Bridge is between work and home and a colleague and I have recently started walking over it nearly every day after work. I find this really helps to clear my mind and it's also helping me to get fitter for City2Surf in August. What a great end to a work day. I never tire of that view. I drove over the bridge on Sunday and it just lifts my spirits every time. Also agree as others have mentioned that for me the physical and mental are linked. I can't feel mentally sharp if I'm not doing something physical each day as well. Got into my post-grad so I have to focus, if I like it or not. The thought of writing essays again is daunting but I guess its a matter of practise.Time to stop studying men and hit the books instead. Books are easier to work out anyway.

Most of my work in philosophy involves purely abstract logic, so for relaxing and playing, I love the tactile nature of puzzles such as the Rubik's cube, and similar puzzles like the Magaminx, Masterminx, and the Gear Ball. They're almost meditative, in that they usually involve using similar patterns over and over to solve. Additionally, I love watching videos on YouTube about life hacks, psychology, history, TED ED videos, etc. Finally, I try to make a point of always looking up things in life when I realise I don't know anything about them. For example, I recently told my friend we'd have to take a rain check on catching up. They didn't know what that meant. I knew what I meant, but not where it came from. This bothered me, so off to Google I went. Also, Congratulations to all the new Uni Students in this thread, undergrads and post grads alike! - Posted from rhpmobile
