"Imagine"

August 16 2015

Every time I hear or see "Imagine", I do... Today's thoughts had me wondering how different things might be if John Lennon had lived longer and what difference that might have made to the world order as it stands today. It was a profound moment for me. .It led me on to question what song or songs, or artists stir other forumites. If it pleases you to share... Peachy

In tribute Jimmy Vaughan playing 'Six Strings Down' to his brother and freak of nature Stevie Ray Vaughan, with a line up of the best in the game of the world, all saying Stevie went to a place and channelled the music and emotions for it. I know that place, but I'm a fruit loop. Mado Mado Tara xx

I think I answered this wrong. Its about artists that died. Ok.Well in that case, Jeff Buckley a musician/singer that was ahead of his time, in my opinion. Drowned in the Mississippi river at the age of 30. His song Hallelujah is haunting. Although it was a cover, most people think he wrote it but it was Leonard cohan) His music writing style and lyrics were unique and he is prime example of someone who became more admired and appriciated for his craft after he died.

...I'm pretty fond of "Midnight train to Georgia" by Gladys Knight and The Pips. And I don't mind any of the hits of Hall and Oates either. Great harmonies.

Quoting 'willowtree_2' Stevie. Little wing....And Stevie gave it respect in a beautiful way"Lenny "is the song Stevie played the story, "Well here's a thing, this one goes out to my lovely wife, Lenny" . Played "Live at El Macambo" with double trouble and it's one of those moments captured for all time, it's the only song he played, I know all the words and feel his love and life, from that place he went to, not a lyric just a six string guitar with a pair of huge awkward hands. "House of the rising sun" played by "Santa Esmeralda" I think you would really like their version willowtree, but turn it up.

That Was part of where I began though and the show I was watching went on to feature other artists who were no longer part of our Earthly plane, lol. And, there are so many I could mention. But, I have a long time strong love for Neil Diamond. And ABBA. Who both have music that stirs me. Hmmm, ahem... ;-) .Carole King is an artiste, who, like J. Lennon has been a part of my life since single digits Freya. Who doesn't need a friend? and I do love the Divas version, which stars Carole, as you know. Sigh... <3 .And Karen Carpenter is another firm favourite of mine Meander. RIP.Peachy

Two I consider quite a bit better than Imagine lyrically (though a wonderful tune). First and number one 'Walk a Mile In My Shoes' by Joe South. Second 'Equal rights' by Peter Tosh. As far as Lennon goes if he lived. There were far greater humans that advocated what he was saying through Imagine. Gandhi, Martin Luther, Bob Marley and Peter Tosh and the list goes on and on. So many peoples who died and believed in the same thing (basically equality across the board). And here we still sit with the same things going on in the world, kind of pisses one off if you let it. As far as Artists go there are way too many that stir me deeply but I wish to pay special regard to a wonderful and beautiful man some may never have heard of RICHIE HAVENS great tunes, great renditions but most of all great man. Rest in peace Richie

that stops me in my tracks and I just have a few tears is "what a wonderful world" by Louis Armstrong. My daughter was born premmie and 2 days after her birth I was making my way to the NICU to feed her and this song came on and after all the stress of her pregnancy and the relief that we both survived her delivery, I just couldn't move. I stood there and listened and cried and cried. It still gets me now! - Posted from rhpmobile

So many songs, so many memories spanning the years. What a music mix we could make. Thanks! .Haha, the first record I ever owned, lol... Patsy Cline has some hauntingly, memorable songs. .I'll try to get a chance to look for the ones I don't know. And refresh myself for the ones I do. Peachy
