Everyone has been debating their favourite fragrances in the forums and this coupled with something I was told recently has got me thinking....I don't wear perfume. I have not done so for such a long time that the perfumes I once liked seem sickly sweet and no longer me at all. Soap and shampoo is all I wear (oh and deodorant)!I have no idea where to start when it comes for shopping for a fragrance and I am not sure I should even bother but I do like the idea of having some kind of scent that is recognisably me.Instead of what perfume you like I guess I am asking what smells do you like and why? I like the smell of coconut or Cinnamon. I like the smell of the air just after it rains and that salty/sunscreen smell of summertime on the beach. I also like the smell of freshly mowed grass, of books and clean laundry.....Of course I am not suggesting all of these as fragrances to try wearing, I just went off on a tangent.....smells that would smell good on people, that's what I want to hear about :)

I think usually peoples fav smells come from positive associations with a time/place/feeling... ie like the salty/sunscreen = summertime fun.Perfumes usually are classed in types - ie floral, sporty, oriental, woody, spicy - and people will usually choose different perfumes in the same class. Some people have a signature scent, but it may not come from a perfume.... one of my friends loves & wears the Bodyshop Strawberry body butter, so thats her signature!

dirt bikes have a very distinctive smell, and i love my bike so much that i have often wished i could fuck it. i guess the ultimate for me would be flicking through a dirt bike magazine (perving on all the bikes) whist having sex with a girl who's wearing dirt bike scent. i'm sick, i know, but theres no cure so why worry about it?

Freshy mowed lawns, running the mower over a herb I grow in the lawns called pennyroyal and having the smell burst up at me. Cinnamon and vanilla. I clean with eucalyptus oil. Love the smell of fresh pine needles and sawdust. That beautiful smell unique to a newborn baby. Rich, freshly ground coffee brewing. The list is endless.

The scent of walking out of my cabin high in the mountains (back home) at first light just after a deep snowfall. Incredibly crisp and clean. | The eastern beach in Belize with a cool breeze coming in from the Gulf. The mixture of sea air and the tropical native trees...very subtle and refreshing. | My great grandfather's old rowboat and Angel Lake just before dawn...a heavy and musky scent that I can almost taste to this day. | Spumoni ice cream...it smells almost as good as it tastes. Edible fragrances...yes, please.

If you do decide to try wearing one of those fragrances, try the Demeter range. You can have your Cinnamon, your Wet Grass, Diirt, and even Sex on the Beach. About 200 to choose from, if I remember correctly. I'm with CrackUp. Even the most subtle of scents, and the less than pleasant ones, help to make this world something greater than a movie set. I navigate with far more senses than just my eyes and the one place I cope with least on this planet is the fragrance centre in any department store. I feel partially blind for hours after running the gauntlet at Myer.

For some reason, I just love the scent of it. Or maybe it's just the colour purple that heightens my sexual frustration and I have to bust out and get laid. Either way, lavender is lovely...

My favourite smell is freshly cut rosemary. Unfortunately that means ANZAC Day makes me horny! Is that wrong? LOL. Anyway I was playing 2-Up at a pub in Sydney and a girl I was talking to asked, "Do you think it's wrong to hit on someone on ANZAC Day? You know, out of respect for the dead and all." When I said no she asked if I wanted to come back to her house. True story. God bless our diggers!

Lavender with the scented pouch my nanna gave me when I was little. It was blue satin with beige lace and screenprinted on the front with an image of a young girl playing on a cobblestone street. Dirtbikes, that one made me laugh, I get it but maybe I do not like it quite as much as you do littlewings :) The idea of dirtbike smell makes me think of motor oil and sweaty bodies, dust in the air and tyres. Deepheat, oh yes that smell is awesome too. I do like new baby smell....Little clean babies, just want to cuddle them and sniff their heads :P Oh and new car rates too lol but I don't want to cuddle them or wear one of those pine tree shaped car freshners :P

When Kramer wanted to make a perfume scent of the beach. I love turning up at my parents house and smelling the trees in their yard. Reminds me of my youth coming home early in the morning when the scent is especially strong. I love following taxis and smelling the LPG. Yes I know that I am not right. lol. High octane fuel and burning rubber. Coffee, fresh bread, garlic and onions frying are also great.

Quoting 'jaketeek' You would love to watch me play footy then ;) ' Going to the SCG to watch a footy game. The smell of the grass and the stadium brings back great memories of going to the MCG as a little tyke(?) with my friends. We used to take the old Red Rattlers to the stadium. My god! I am really showing my age now. lol. Speaking of old trains, the smell of old cars do it to me as well. As soon as I open the door, I know that i am going to love that journey.
