If that's what you're asking then, no I don't think it's reasonable to expect a poor reply. If I'm really busy and know that I can't respond to a text within half a day (depends who it is) then I may send a quick text explaining that I will give a response when I have more time....and I may suggest when that will be.

Are awesome as you never actually leave a conversation....you can go back and revise..... And... There's no time limit to respond....as its always gonna be there.... Do I have an expectation on time it takes to respond?? Fuck no....the people I converse with understand when I don't reply straight away, why not the reverse?? Secondly, they're not my only focus on life, so at some point they need to be able to take a back seat..... Anybody that doesn't understand this with me, never gets a reply period.... - Posted from rhpmobile

With me there could be a variety of reasons, the battery needs recharging,my phone is turned off..it does that,it's very smart. I regularly misplace my phone ,forget to put credit on it..the list goes on. I don't Tweet,,Instagram ,Facebook ..actually I rarely use my phone..but that's just me Q

I am very old school as am not on any social media and only use my phone for calls and texts. I am not a fan of the fact that we live in a world of 'must have now' and any waiting is deemed to be poor service, rude or not worth the wait. A text should be treated the same as any other communication medium and managed based on the level of importance the message carries. If a detailed response is required I don't think it unreasonable to respond within a reasonable timeframe advising that a more relevant response will be forthcoming. But at the end of the day I think it depends on the relationship you have with the person who sent the message and what their expectations are of you in relation to the response time.

They think you are at their beck and call. Just because they expect an immediate answer doesn't mean you have to give one. It's their expectation that is letting them down, not you. I rarely reply to texts during the day. Call me old fashioned, but the company I work for pays me to work, not answer personal texts. Sure I will check the text, but if it isn't urgent I will reply during lunch break or when I get home. If the person who sent the text doesn't like it they can go find someone else to inflict their sense of instant communication entitlement on.

If someone is pushy or impatient while texting...... Imagine what they'll be like if they ever sit face to face with you. Impatient and demanding text is symbolic of an impatient and demanding person. Text is like a final hurdle to get over before deciding that meeting someone is s good idea and use of precious time (which is why I don't understand those people sending messages proposing to meet right away ((or expectantly propose sex?!!!)) without message chatting first). 3c - Posted from rhpmobile

I reply to messages from most people straight away. My job allows me that luxury thru the day. A couple of friends ring me if I don't answer because it's out of character and they check I'm ok. 😄 but having said that.... I have friends that may not answer me for days, doesn't bother me because we all know each other well enough to know each other's personalities. We're all different and accepting that's what friends are about. - Posted from rhpmobile

If you can respond to a message then it's good manners to do so but we all have lives away from our phones so if a message isn't responded to then that person or I am busy right then. Sometimes it does get frustrating when you are trying to organise something but there is no need to stamp your feet and have a tantrum about it not being replied to within 15 minutes. Just not good form. xx

I Like regular contact but within 15 mins is way too demanding . within a day or two is appreciated I generally reply within a day the most even if its just to say busy at the moment but i'll get back to you soon :) It takes me all of two seconds to do.

My job doesn't allow a lot of time to look at my phone let alone respond to messages. I try to respond on my break or later that night, but I often find I sometimes forget to respond as after work my focus is on my kids, dinner, homework, bed etc..... My friends know I will eventually get around to answering them. As for RHP (men in particular) if they get annoyed that it takes too long (in their opinion) for me to respond I use that as a vetting tool. If they can't be patient for a message reply, what other expectations do they have? Sorry fellas, but that'll manage to get you no reply at all.

If I get a text from a 'gentleman' from RHP I would answer same day, if he kept hounding me prior to my reply I'd say thanks but no go, I can't do demanding or clingy. - Posted from rhpmobile

Personaly I dont have time for pushy or impatient people as they only get worse over time in my experience. As for how i act? Ive always viewed it as its thier life, thier time and thier preferance on when they will message back, it makes no sense to stress them and yourself out putting expectations on when/how they should reply. Just enjoy the thrill of meeting someone new and see where it goes, if your cool about it you either get a new friend or a date and thats a rare win/win scenario in life. - Posted from rhpmobile

If I didn't get back to them straight away. They immediately show their true colours and no one wants to be around someone that makes them self sound possessive and desperate. Just makes me think, thank f*** I didn't waste my time on meeting a idiot like you 😂😂 what grates my bones more is if I say thanks but no thanks and u get abuse back...... No need for it - Posted from rhpmobile

If someone texted me 3 times in 15 minutes that would be an instant deal breaker. I'd say a same day response is reasonable but I wouldn't be cross of someone didn't reply for a day or two. We all lead busy lives (some more than others obviously). In saying that though, I have made contact with quite a few women and couples on here whom I thought might be a match, and I get maybe 1 in 15 of them actually reply. I only contact people after actually reading their profile and if they are looking for someone like me. A lot of the non-repliers view my profile. I understand that women and couples probably receive a lot of messages but surely even if you're not interested it's not that hard to send a quick "thanks but no thanks" reply to someone who has taken the time to read your profile and send you a well worded and thoughtful message. Is that not just common decency? - Posted from rhpmobile

There are a few posts around on the etiquette or politeness of a reply to a message. You'll find a lot of women may or may not have offered replies in the beginning...but become less concerned with being polite after recieving nasty, rude or derogatory replies to their "thanks, but no thanks". It has been said that sometimes..no reply IS the reply. - Posted from rhpmobile

Back on topic: I really don't notice time passing, so an instant reply might happen, or it might take days - if I'm out of the country and using another SIM card, it could be weeks till I get home and even get the message. I'm not always a fan of the "read" notices that many messaging apps have now that don't let you flick it back to "unread". Sometimes I'll accidentally tap a notification and then quickly get back into the app I was using without reading/having time to deal with a message - but to the other person it looks like I've had time to read and consider the message.

My personal view is a response is born out of common courtesy. Having said that, one has the right not to respond and the other has the right not to care. It boils down to self interest. you want to keep those people that respond in a timely manner in your lives, and those that don't without good reason - well they don't value your interest so move on - Posted from rhpmobile

Personally(not that i get any activity anyway lol), No one can or should be expected to sit on these things 24/7. So i simply allocate a time to check in. If i were to be chatting with some one, and i thought it was going some where, that would be my focus. If some one sent a message and you were intersted just send them a quick reply that you will get back to them. If they dont accept this they probably arent what you were looking for anyway. - Posted from rhpmobile

Hahaha, I told my wife once "I don't text, if you have something of worth to say (or in this case ask) then call." I haven't heard from her since... Bliss. As for texts I still don't. I use the phone for actual conversations and the responses are instant... You should try that sometime... - Posted from rhpmobile

I think expecting a reply within 15 min is totally unreasonable! But if you are addicted to your phone like I am you will notice a text message fairly soon after receiving one unless I am in a meeting without my phone. I think if somebody you have just started seeing or are flirting with online doesn't reply that day... Even if it is to say they are too busy and will get back to me later... I assume they aren't that keen. Next.

Response is dependent on content and its interpretation as to how urgent you deem it to be. I can leave a text rssponse for days and both parties take up the convo per normal. Some people interpretation is different and they may consider a hello reply from me as the most important thing in the world. And who could blame them.........😎

For myself i tend to be able to reply reasonably quickly..Depending if I'm driving or not (i don't txt n drive). I understand everyone is different... general rule of thumb if you're mid conversation with someone (like 10txt's back n forth over the last hour or so) if you're not going to be able to reply for a bit.. give the person a heads up.. Tell them I gtg, chat to you in a bit.. ;) It's called manners :)

I got a couple more replies. which I never bothered to reply to either... until THIS ONE came..Her - "You stopped messaging....."Me - "Yeah! I am NOT drunk anymore."Her - "That is a bit Rude!!"Me - "Of FUCK.. I didn't realise I was supposed to LIE...."Me - "My phone ran out of credit""My dog ate my phone and I had to wait until he shat it out""I was in a car accident, and just regained consciousness..""Which Fckn LIE would you like best??"*shrugs*

As you have clarified your op and put it in context, my opinion is that if one does not answer within 15 m after texting or chatting on phone previously then there is a reason. Not enough to be concerned about and certainly not to be aggro for. Specially during work hours. a simple text when you are available to explain the situation will suffice. If they get pissed off for something so minor, even after your explanation, pffft ditch the self centred bastard. tell him to find a corner and wank himself dry. You deserve better.

It all depends as I think you should only reply if you are able to continue the conversation if it's a let's have a chit chat message. Nothing worse then a conversation being ended awaiting a reply because once it hits next day they would have seen it and chose not to reply. But if it's a 1 reply deal then everyone these days has there phone on them so within the hour is a reasonable time. - Posted from rhpmobile

Some people are impatient. And others are just jerks. I always say at the outset, I'm busy, we're all busy. If they send 2 messages and don't get a response, I'm busy and will get back to them when I can. Any more than 2 messages usually just confuses things. And likewise, if I send 2 messages and don't get a response I'll assume their busy and will get back to me when they can. They're text messages, they're eternal, not going anywhere. Some people need to chill more - Posted from rhpmobile

I respond fairly quickly i messages I recieve, but then again sometimes I get busy I can't reply till I'm able to. I don't expect someone to reply instantly, but if a friend goes unexpectedly quiet for an extended period of time without warning, I tendto worry something happened, or their phone met the floor after being dropped. In saying that, expecting a reply within 15 minutes every time is unreasonable, but not replying for weeks upon weeks, well I see that as a sign of something isn't sitting right - Posted from rhpmobile

Quoting 'likelysuspects' Considering most people have the phone glued to them no more than 30min unless you are texting them at unreasonable times that seems a bit short, even if it's on the weekend. If I'm on the field competing I wouldn't even have my phone near for 3 hours, even domestic travelers are at least in the air for an hour and that is very common too - or even at the gym, it's an hour or so of not paying attention to anything but the bar.
