Literotica

August 02 2015

After the recent thread about erotica, I've been thinking about the kind of literature that I read, and the passages that I stumble across, which set my heart (or my loins) a-flutter. Sometimes it's in places you might expect, like Lady Chatterly's Lover - other times, in something completely unexpected. Here are a few of my favourites ... "They were kissing. Put like that, and you could be forgiven for presuming that this was a normal kiss, all lips and skin and possibly even a little tongue. You'd miss how he smiled, how his eyes glowed. And then, after the kiss was done, how he stood, like a man who had just discovered the art of standing and had figured out how to do it better than anyone else who would ever come along." Neil Gaiman, Anansi Boys "Licence my roving hands, and let them go, Before, behind, between, above, below." John Donne "The only sea I saw was the seesaw sea with you riding on it. Lie down, lie easy. Met me shipwreck on your thighs." Dylan Thomas, Under Milkwood "I wanted to drown inside a woman in the feeling and drooling of the love I could give her. I wanted her pulse to crush me with its intensity. That's what I wanted." Markus Zusak, Getting the Girl. And, from Lady Chatterly's Lover - "we fucked a flame into being." Also, there's a passage in Game of Thrones - I think book 3? When Jon Snow and Ygrette have sex. The description of his exploration of her is just fabulous - something like "I only wanted to kiss you there - you seemed to like it." Google isn't being my crimes this morning to find the quote, but it's pretty hot. So, what are you favourites? Lines from a poem, or a song, or a book, that capture something erotic or sensual for you? I'd love to add some more good reads to my pile!

Anais Nin is a favourite of mine - have you read the letters between her and Henry Miller? Oh my. Totally wonderful. It's probably the most sensual book I've read.

Google it and you will find a whole range of erotica stories written by by amateurs in a range of categories. It depends on personal taste of course and they range from very ordinary and not worth reading to some that I find quite well written and very erotic. Definitely worth exploring if you're looking for inspiration.

So slow. So deliberate, and so tender. As he ever so delicately rests his lips apon her, like her skin was a lightly trembling water pool; not wanting to break the surface tension. The arms - weathered and scarred and strong - exuding a feminine quality as their raw manly power diminishes. What is in a touch? Like the soul wishing to escape and conjoin with the other through the gentlest brush of a fingertip.

Lovman8 I follow a few authors on some amateur author sites, but you're right, the quality if varied. What I love is stumbling across a beautiful, sensual passage somewhere you least expect it. You expect to find a sex scene in some books, but when you come across a stunning erotic description in a mainstream novel, or in a piece of poetry? It's just lovely.

Wow. I like. "Not wanting to break the surface tension" - that's beautiful. Yours?

Language was invented for one reason, boys - to woo women - and, in that endeavor, laziness will not do.
