You know...men can't read, men think with their dicks, blah, blah, blah..Away from here, I'm subjected to a fair amount, mostly due to being a full-time single dad.A typical response from somebody finding out I'm divorced with kids is "How often do you get to see them?" Uh...try every day, and let's go from there..Or if something needs to be sewn on to one of my daughter's dance costumes...."We can get one of the mums to do that for you." (I know they're just trying to help, but it'd be nice if they asked if I could sew first...'cos I can.)Or the assumption that when I'm buying ballet tights for my daughter I have to be acting under instructions from...well, I dunno...but clearly I don't know what she needs 'cos I'm a bloke.Or even just the "Wow! How do you manage?" Well, geez....same as any other single parent, I guess..

Yep, right on the money.The condescending crap, from being a single parent. "playing mum today are we ?"Excuse me ? "I'm the father and it's not a game !" Got told off by a woman in a park once for playing with my daughter, apparently rolling on the ground blowing raspberries on her tummy is "inappropriate" !I do hope her ears have stopped bleeding.On the other foot, a lot of guys assume that I got "stuck" with the kids.Oh, being a tradie, that I am some sort of bogan who's conversation skills are limited to cars, booze and dogs.Being over 50, must struggle with the children, sheesh ! ... any man that can't type with his penis is woefully unskilled and probably needs remedial education. It cost a bit for the upgrade and modifications to the keyboard but was really worth it, in fact some of you may think these full stop...are actually punctuation? Just the other day, A Current Affair did a piece on the changes to single parent benefits, and how single MUMS will be worse off. Not even the hint of a mention of single dads. And that's what gets up my nose.Don't get me wrong, I have absolutely nothing against single mums. We're all in the same boat, after all. I just get sick of the perception that single parents are only mums.
