We visited the beach, when we stayed in Palm Cove in February this year. We felt a bit unsafe as we were the only couple there, but perhaps it’s because the weather was not that great. We plan to return in mid July when we will be spending 8 days in Palm Cove. Is this a recognised nude beach ? If not, do the police patrol & fine bathers for being nude ?

Not a sanctioned nude beach. Yes police intermittently patrol and people have been fined..... rare but yes it happens. DC you guys scored well being the only ones there...... I'd love that. Not sure why that would make you feel unsafe. July will be bring better weather... summer has been back to the traditional monsoon wet season this year.

Hi FFF We were not the only ones there, simply the only couple. We could see single males lurking in the shadows & behind trees, at the rocky end of the beach (below the cliffs where the houses are ) which we understand is the nude end of the beach. We did not venture down that end as we feared being attacked ( you know safety in numbers) and as we got an uneasy feeling, we did not stay long , but would certifiably like to go back. We would have felt safer if we were the only ones there. What about the deserted beaches on the road to port Douglas ? Could we strip off in a secluded section far from where people park / walk ? We are wanting to take more outdoor nude photos

Never known or experienced issues. The lurkers probably awaiting a connection. There are areas venturing north to Port for pics ! Caution required near creeks as crocs lurk

Ah ok. Makes sense now. That sounds like more like the Buchans I know lol Hmmmm..... not many "secluded" places up here when you factor in all the locals and travellers who seek them out as well. If you just want to go topless, most beaches along the coast road you can venture out of sight a little etc. The end of Ellis beach has a few nudie bathers and bakers. Probably best off sussing them out as you go...... you could luck out and find a desserted patch and have the run of the place for your pics. Check out the many waterfalls up the tableands as well....lots of secluded little secret spots to Enjoy. Just jave your clothes at the ready in case a family comes by 😳😳

NQ Are there any crocs on Buchans & Palm Cove ? We would want to take a bottle of bubblies and a picnic basket down to the beach at sunset and not sure if the crocs come out to feed then ?

@DC lol They don't go round stalking Pincic Hampers like Yogi. There's potential for croc activity anywhere up here. Be vigilant and adhere to warning signs where recent sightings have happened etc. Its FNQ.... we have crocs🤷‍♀️ Don't stress over it though😊

DC I walk my dog twice daily on a near beach (Trinity) without croc worries. If a recent siting normally rangers put up signs or remove the animal. I do picnics regularly at Buchans and it’s truly stunning and in July great for a swim. The lurkers under the trees are normally gay and will acknowledge you if single but normally respectful. Weekdays quiet and you’ll get great photos opportunities

Is there anywhere else to park but under the trees on the muddy parking lot? Can one park up on the hill where the houses are and then walk down ? What about walking from Palm Cove, along the beach ? We would like to enjoy a couple of bottles of champagne with canapés and then not to have to then drive back to Palm Cove under the influence of yummy French bubbly
