Party Poopers

September 05 2023

It's sad that in this day and age there are those within this community who are determined to spoil things for others. House parties in the Perth area are few and far between and one host has had to cancel their events because some knuckle dragging Neanderthals for some reason (probably because they were declined) reported them to their local council. The parties were well run and had a fantastic atmosphere. Those people should be ashamed and exposed. I'm not sure what can be done for the hosts. Is there a way around the councils decision? I was really looking forward to attending with my partner and am so disappointed and angry that this has happened.

Were these house parties free, or did one have to pay to attend? If they are deemed commercial ( money is changing hands ) then all sorts of things come into play : Insurance Permits Sex on premises license Licqour license. Etc etc Can you imagine if every Tom , Dick & Harry ran a commercial enterprise / party etc from home . The residential streets would see an influx of cars coming & going late at night etc. Council is only maintaining & enforcing the laws.

I haven't had that issue. Or heard of it. Pretty awful behaviour to "dob". I don't advertise my group gatherings and. We meet on set days. All know each other through this (and other sites). I think that helps. When you open it up you risk exposure I think. Maybe host your own with trusted friends.

Why are you angry? The community is made up of all sorts of people, who share things of common interests. Some people may not agree with other people's common interests. That's OK. When an organizer is hosting private events in their home, they need to be mindful of their neighbours etc and the consequences/ local laws, that go with. The accountability, is on them, not others. The issue is the acceptance of money .. Thats it . You can have a party in your house with whoever you want and do what ever you want ,, the solution is simple ,, Do not charge money ,, However people that go to these parties are aware that there is a charge and would not complain if lets say there was a tip jar or donation jar with a specific amount .. Its that simple ,, just do not advertise as a paid event .. Not even the police can stop you having a party ,,

This really confuses me, apart from being mean and small minded from the 'dobbers', I don't understand how a council can stop a private event in someone's home. Surely people are entitled to do as they wish in the company of other consenting adults?
