RIP Bowie

January 11 2016

What is this? LIFE ON MARS? WHAT'S REALLY HAPPENING David Bowie? Is it a SPACE ODDITY? Sad to hear the news that the STARMAN is HERE TODAY AND GONE TOMORROW. ALL THE YOUNG DUDES and ALL THE MADMEN in their SORROW will have a SENSE OF DOUBT about this. But like LADY STARDUST, THE JEAN GENIE, LADY GRINNING SOUL, CHINA GIRL and ROSALYN, they'll be HEROES and keep their LUST FOR LIFE. We'll never LOOK BACK IN ANGER at your PLANET OF DREAMS. Instead we will JOIN THE GANG and remember your GOLDEN YEARS ZIGGY STARDUST as you, THE PRETTIEST STAR, TUMBLE AND TWIRL TRYING TO GET TO HEAVEN.

I was introduced to Bowies' music at an early age, having an older brother who adored him. He died when I was 14, and I'll never forget seeing his coffin lowered to the eerie sounds of Warszaw, from the album Low. Bowie music played a huge part of my life, bringing with it a whole range of emotions. I sometimes find a quiet place, play Warszaw and Under Pressure, in rememberence of a life that was, and contemplate a life that could have been.
David Bowie was many things to me.

Not knocking him at all. Apart from a few songs , the rest did'nt grab me at all. My all time favourite was " Sorrow " The music and words are magic.

DB evolved with the years - he was one of those artists who was unique, played his style of music but was also able to maintain a mainstream audience......was Mr Polys first ever concert back in 83 ......all time fav was Golden Years when he performed it on Soul Train (breaking down the barriers back then too).....

the other day all the shops were playing Bowie, buskers doing tributes, cost me a few bucks ! All good though it was hard to concentrate, kept getting goosebumps and weepy. I'm a bit surprised at how it has affected me !

Of his music, although i love space oddity. But bowie was a kind of constant background soundtrack to my life. It was there even if it wasn't listened to. And while i didn't listen much i saw a lot, and i'm not talking about labrynth here. He was in the news or i saw docos and you couldn't help liking the guy. I honestly reeled considerably for days whenever i thought of it... And not to derail this thread, but while still reeling from Bowie's passing someone came up to me friday and said "Hans Grueber passed away". Alan rickman gone too... Man... What a week.
