Stopping mid play.

July 22 2026

I saw a social media post yesterday that was talking about stopping mid play. It got me thinking more about my habits and what others do. We all know consent can be withdrawn at any time, and that’s something I completely agree with. But I’m curious how many people actually stop mid play when they’re just, not feeling it anymore. I’m not talking about someone doing anything wrong or feeling unsafe. More those situations where it’s just a bit “meh”. The chemistry isn’t quite there, you’re not really into it, and you get to the point where you could honestly take it or leave it. Do you stop, or do you tend to keep going because it’s easier, you don’t want to make things awkward, or you know it’ll be over soon? The other person hasn’t even done anything wrong. It’s just you’re not feeling into it anymore. I’d be interested to hear how others handle this. Has it become easier with experience to say, “I’m just not feeling this,” or do you still find yourself seeing it through?

Happened to me once on a first playdate. She pulled the ripcord and was incredibly apologetic and embarrassed, which she shouldn't have been, and I felt terrible for her. I'm just so glad though that she did stop when she did. It would have been devastating to know after the fact that she went through with it purely out of embarrassment, or sense of obligation, or worst of all, fear. It played on my mind for ages, and looking back, I saw in hindsight cues that a better me would have picked up on. I was disappointed with myself for failing what I considered to be my duty of care to her. Taught me to work harder at being more vigilant in the moment and attuned to bodies present. Consent is obviously super important, but to me, so is consent driven by genuine desire, from start to end.

We had this happen to us on our very first couple swap. The female just got up, said she wanted a drink and left the room. Then he decided to check in her in case she was having a freak out and that left the 2 of us looking at each other going “well that didn’t go well”. It was her call and we totally respected that. We had an incident where a couple tripped and fell through a glass coffee table mid-play! Of course the sensible thing to do would be to pull up stumps, so after bandaging some superficial cuts we offered to wrap it up, but they said no, play on! So we went for another round. Awesome fun couple... Next time we'll move glass furniture out of the way.

We had a very awkward meeting with a couple who said all the right things when we were chatting and getting to know each other and felt a really good vibe all round… upon meeting, things went south and real fast… part of our play journey is the hotness and massive turn on watching each other pleasure and be pleasured with another person… After a couple of drinks and some small talk we started to get a little closer and the clothing started coming off… To say all the energy came from the male part of the couple was an understatement… we were sure after reading through their 60+ validations that this would be a great night, however the female laid there extremely disinterested no matter what WE DID to her even though apparently she came while we kicked her out, she never initiated or gave any feedback of what she wanted or that she was enjoy herself while her male half changed into what I can only call a sexual deviant and not in a good way which made me feel extremely uncomfortable that the meet seemed to be extremely one sided and gave us the feeling that she was only there as an accomplice and not a participant… Luckily we try and take something positive out of our meets no matter what takes place but we’re a little disappointed that the night didn’t translate from the messaging… but we’re live and learn and soldier on!! That’s why we take validations now with a grain of salt but also try and talk on the phone before meeting to see if the vibe vocally is the same as via text! Happy playing everyone 💦

I've had need to call time on things due to an upset stomach and she was nothing but understanding. I've also had my long term partner tell me she just wasn't feeling it and we could try again in the morning. These things happen and I think it says a lot about people as to how they react. I've had friends on a date start to hook up with someone and then decided they actually want to take it slow and wait. Sometimes guys don't take that so well and they grab their bat and ball and storm off in a huff. In that case they've found out their true colours and dodged a bullet early on.

After reading this post @Nightglider, it reminded me of something I had read a while ago "Consent isn't just about saying "yes" at the start, it's about feeling safe to say "no" or "stop" at any time. Respecting that is what brings positive experiences for everyone." Communication is everything on all sides!

Got to love AI... here are some examples... "I'm not really feeling it anymore." "Can we slow down for a minute?" "I think I'm going to sit this one out." "I'm just not comfortable continuing." "I'm not in the right headspace today." "I don't think this is for me." "I'd like to stop here, thanks." "I'm sorry, but I've changed my mind." "I'm just not feeling the connection I thought I would." "I need to listen to my gut on this one."

Ive had to call it once after an event and during play...a little too much to drink had me feeling a little sick mid play...im grateful that the other 3 people were people I already knew and they were like of course lets call it. There was another time where my partner and I met up eith a couple amd the couple werent really transparent in their intention so if it wasnt for my partner, I probably wouldnt have even been touched...however in the moment I just went with it but later was wishing I had of said "this is not what we came here for so we are calling it". Lesson learned for next time though

Mrs HotWife has hoped up mid session and asked me to make her a drink and that she won’t be fucking anymore. It’s only happened once in a larger group setting and didn’t really hinder the rest of the evening as she was quite happy to sit out the fucking and just watch and chat away. That was more of a physical limitation. We had one fellow who was a friend of the couple joining us turn up really late. Mrs HotWife realised he hadn’t turn up on time and made it clear that was unacceptable and not to touch her… she then grabbed the 2 fellows she had been enjoying and got back into things.. so that was a mid session break to very firmly explain consequences…. It was one of the sexiest things I’ve ever seen… Once or twice in MMFs, Mrs HotWife has asked me to politely request that our guest goes home. Some people get carried away and forget some of the things Mrs HotWife doesn’t like which results in a loss of desire. On those occasions there has been an instant understanding of a breach of boundaries and everyone is polite and respectful about what has happened but also been clearly aware that the fun is done.
