The longer you are on here the quicker you can spot a dubious profile. Its just part of the rich tapestry of of online life. If they sound too good to be true....well you can guess the rest of that statement I'm sure.

What I don't understand though, what do they get from getting people's emails and phone numbers?

Yes,We have had this issue a few times, I agree with kissk the longer your on here the better you get at detecting Fakes and Frauds,We had our profile affected with random FRIEND REQUESTS! these were being done and it wasn't us,Strange I know but people we hadn't even spoke with excepted our requests and then I noticed them on our friends lists days later??Please if anyone else has had this happen,Hacking???Hmmm I hope not,But is it some form of it???But please share your thoughts, because am beginning to think this site is haunted?

If they give an email address or ph no out in their first message then I'm outta there. Generally speaking Ive found them to be guest members.

The best advice is to never give out any personal details. Get a web-based email address just for RHP, get a mobile phone number just for RHP, dont give out your real names, or physical address, and it is always best to meet in a public place, and on neutral ground....... as one just never knows who may turn out to be the next stalker. Plenty fake profiles out there. Those profiles that are verified are less likely to be fakes, but one just never knows.

Email adresses are often linked to google accounts and often real names and public information, pictures, blog adresses. I was astounded about the amount if public information was out there. If you are using email make sure it is not linked up to anything even previous closed accounts - Posted from rhpmobile

Happens at some stage to most people. You learn very quickly here what is on the level and what is not and what's appropriate information to give out before meeting someone face to face. Has happened to us about 4 times, early on. - Posted from rhpmobile

There are lots of phone and internet scams around. You can Google them :) Most of us would never click on suspicious links and reply to missed calls we don't know (for example), but there are people who fall for these scams thinking it's their bank, etc and give out private information over the phone or email. - Posted from rhpmobile

Sorry it's happened to you, OP. Good to hear you learnt from the experience. I haven't had any issues with fake profiles contacting me, well not that I know of but I hear it happens to a lot of men on this site. They get sent a template message on here which is quite articulated (I was shown one for my opinion on the matter) with an email address as a 'more convenient' method for them to contact you. Once you send an email, that's when their scheming begins. Rule #1 - If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. This is a good reminder to everyone to NEVER give out valuable information over the internet or phone. - Posted from rhpmobile

On this particular site for many years, and have come across lots of fake profiles ( two in the last few days even ), and the main purpose that I have come across is that these lovely females try to send you to other 'adult' sites whereby they try and milk you for all the cash they can. I've never been foolish enough to fall for the ploy , but I do follow up to see what they are trying to accomplish - when I see what they're up to I tend to leave them cold. As mentioned by others, some could be potential hackers so that they can get personal info and put that to further use. You will in due time acquire the knowledge to spot these fake profiles. Unfortunately, it just doesn't happen on this site - other 'plain' dating sites as well as adult sites are prone to the same ploys, so just be wary and keep your eyes open. Tall

I've had 'scam bots' show interest then try direct me to other adult dating sites. My online 'dating' experience isn't massive, but I've def been targeted a few times by artificial intelligence as I call scammers these days.. ;) Thanks everyone for the advice so far! Much appreciated guys n gals - Posted from rhpmobile

I'm now at the point if there's zero pics I'm suspect ? If there are pics I look in the back ground for signs of over seas?? One big give away is the power points ?? This is the only country that uses the smiley face power point (we'll that I'm aware of) mostly only chat with those within a 100k radius now...

for your help. Feel a bit better and will have to learn. I don't understand though why there are so many people (especially guests) unverified on this site, as it costs nothing and takes about 5-mins ?

Quoting 'Warning69' I'm now at the point if there's zero pics I'm suspect ? If there are pics I look in the back ground for signs of over seas?? One big give away is the power points ?? This is the only country that uses the smiley face power point (we'll that I'm aware of) mostly only chat with those within a 100k radius now... The power points are a good one, and left hand drive cars.Bad punctuation and grammar, although unfortunately thats not always the case ! The scammers seem to have no spaces between sentences.Actually I have had good sport with some, stringing them along. My bad.

Rather embarrassing really. Particularly when ive worked in an online environment for past 20yrs. I thought i was all over it. Happened on another site ive used and a very tame one at that - as such maybe my guard was lowered a tad. Anyways i cottoned on when the replies became generic. Reported her / whoever it was - to the site but saw same profile appear in another state a few days later. This is a good topic, scams are getting much more refined these dayz... SD

the ones we have issue with are the 'single' men...so far we've only ever been stood up by guys, and on every occasion, the excuse given was kinda piss poor....it leads us to believe that these guys were never single to begin with, which is sad really, as dishonesty has to be one of the least attractive personality traits...
