Pffft, whatever, that was a waste of time last week. Though I can imagine some parents would use it just to be alone for a while! ;-)

You can do better than that Meander. You have an empty space not affected by time.

As long as there are padded walls so I can throw myself around. I could not resist every seventh day just in case there was something new in there. Oh and classic treegirl

How small is small? And you didn't mention any lighting. I guess I could dump some dirt in it and grow magic mushrooms in the dark, in record time. ;-)

Quoting 'Meander' How small is small? And you didn't mention any lighting. I guess I could dump some dirt in it and grow magic mushrooms in the dark, in record time. ;-) Sounds like Breaking Bad meets the chamber of secrets. Small: Let's say 3m^2. Light: You could always bring a light with you.

I'd have to go back in there when it reappeared. Just to see if anything had changed. And I'd take a couple of books with me :)

set up a laser to shine into the room and carefully observe the effects of the door on the light beam. Then I would use a gravimeter to make precise measurements of gravity in and around the room. Then I would check myself into rehab.

I'm with Freya, it sounds like a serene place. I would take my paints and let visions unfold and paint them on the walls. Or do trance dances and try to reach an ecstatic state. Or just sit and be quiet.

1. if time stood still inside the room, you would be immobile and never be able to leave.2. how can time stand still for an allotted period of time?3. if time was standing still outside the room, how could time reverse back to the point at which you entered the room?

The first time it appeared I would have stuck my head in, saw it was empty and nothing was happening in there so would closed the door without entering. The second time I would be swearing at who ever it was leaving it there in my way. Just curious .... once you entered the room does the door lock you in for 12 hours? Coz I would have been scratching the walls to get out as claustrophobia would have set in. I need to see outside ... but that's just me. LG

Either take a radio or computer in there with me, find out the winning lotto numbers (or have someone slip them under the door, and when I get out, when time is reverted back, go and by a lotto ticket

Can leave anytime you'd like. Unless you find a way to lock the door from the outside.

Immediately before going into the room, mad, hot exhausting sex, then I could go into the room to recuperate. When I came out it would be the same time as when I went in, but I would be rested and ready to go again, she would most likely be impressed

The following week I'd take a pillow, room for me to curl up and sleep, reassess, sleep some more.....I'd enjoy the peace and quiet.....I call that bliss....💋

12 hours....4 beers an hour....2 slabs...take in my cooler box with two slabs of TEDs on ice and get shitfaced...just watch out for the corner i have to pee in...but as time reverts back i could leave sober, not have to clean up, and go do it all again down the local :)....then the following week I'd invite all my mates over and have a white room pissup party with a camping toilet setup in there. And their wives would be none the wiser as time stood still and we all had a blast and they could go home sober as a judge

How can the room be empty if you are inside it?
-
RHP User
So many options on how to utilise it, but I would hope that it would continue to appear every 7 days, and I would you use it for something - all 12hrs of it. Also, wonder if anyone else sees the religious connotations associated with this little analogy?

Does the room appear..is it a weekly occurrence? ..If so then expecting my room to appear I can plan my time in the room...decide what to take in there with me..can i leave things in the room?...a small table ,an armchair..some artwork for the walls,..in the twelve telescoping hours and the magical space much could be accomplished ..I like this room..thank you Slickz xxFreya

I have too many things happening in the real world but I would poke my head in out of curiosity.. I'd also tie a bit of string outside and leave a string trail so if the door accidently shut behind me I know where it is.. Then I'd call on my footy background and crash charge the door / wall back open again... Would you call that claustrophobic ? I think so...

No one told me about the beer ?.. I might just crash back inside (see above post ) have a few with ya and crash back out again...

YES - apply some scientific measurement methods to establish the facts and if it were indeed a door to multiverse I would cement a perimeter around it whilst I write a quick research paper and collect a Nobel prize in physics...thank you :) thank you :)

Quoting OP;"When inside this room time stands still for 12 whole hours. Upon exiting, the door you entered vanishes and time is reversed to the point you entered the room." I assume you mean outside time stands still. So what time reverses, my time so that I have not aged 12hours? Does that mean that I can not remember what happen in the room. As the room is empty boredom could well kill me, does the room throw me out if I can not move, and the time reversal brings me back to life. How long is the door there for, I would assume there is a limited time it is available every week. Personally the only value it would have is the fact that it exists. Would make a great PHD, and a discovery like that if well documented could well be worth something. Can I see out when time stands still as that in its self would provide a unique view of the universe, or would it all go dark, as time is required for photons of light to move. Oh and pointless as I would forget. Shame the time reverses, I can see no point in going in, ironically though I would go in as I would have no memory of ever going in, and my curiosity would have me go in, spend 12 hours in an empty room, only to step out and forget. Every 7 days I get 12 hours of forgettable boredom. I would be the same as if it did not exist. The 12 hours might as well be a million years. Cant work it out OP.

Assume time stops when you enter the door. When you come back out of the door - time begins where you left off. The Door appears 7 days after entering. Stays there until entered, as I did not state otherwise. Does your new found memories of 'The Room' get erased? I don't know - I haven't been through the door yet :) (... or have I?). I'm just here to make up the rules. I did intend any physical implications to be reversed upon exiting the door. I guess that includes aging. Memory, slipped my mind - as it always does ;)

Quoting 'Meander' How would that work considering inside time stands still and outside the door no time passes either? Relativity means that time passes differently but it does not mean that it does not exists in 1 universe but exists in an other one. There is no "timeless" universe - at least not in the literature I know of... So..in room behind the door time can only pass at a different rate - it cannot stand still...

Buy a drone. Control it from the inside of the room. I have other ideas - but I feel they juxtopose the ideas already suggested in this thread too much. and are a little dark lol.
