  I'd say, when it has a heading, "🔒This Topic is now Closed". 1. If the original poster does not know why their forum got closed, it is best to send a message to the moderators and ask. 2. The original poster of the forum has requested. 3. Posters can be a little naughty at times which escalates, therefore instead of a spanking they are reported, given a warning and "The forum is now closed". Ms Foxy

  They also get closed when a polite point is made (that happens to be the truth) doesn't meet the general popular narrative. Similar to the Facebook fact-checker.

  Good question, they say you should be nice but I think what they actually mean is “don’t comment unless you agree with and/or want to support the poster”. How many people do you think actually go for moderator jobs to promote fairness and keep the peace? They do it for egotistical reasons most of the time so it’s best not to try and understand. As another commenter has pointed out there’s also friendships between mods and posters so that would definitely affect who gets to say what and which posts survive. It’s basically high school, don’t try and understand, just use the site for what you want to get out of it and don’t use it if it’s not working for you 🙂

  I wrote in about my topic that got ended this week and got a very standard line response back... I definitely don't think that topic got rude, abusive or out of control
