Who are you?

November 24 2018

Now that DNA testing is so readily available how much do you think your cultural background or genetic background has impacted on your life. Or do you think you are who you are in spite of not because of those potential influences, Has anyone had their DNA tested and where you surprised by the results or was it more a confirmation for you and just made sense. I have been thinking about having a DNA test but I do already know that I have mainly a Celtic ie Scots /Irish background. I adore Glasgow and Glaswegians,if I hear that accent it makes me weak at the knees.

I wouldnt. Saw a show on it resently. The exsperts say its not worth the paper its written on. And the company keeps your dna to sell off in the future, to goverments, insurance companies. Even future implorers. Not only may it cause dramas for yourself later. Could also afftect your children and grandkids.

Is this a sex site or a science site?

Science isn't sexy to many but sex is science. I think it's a cool subject. I was thinking about getting a DNA test lately. My daughter is 23 and doesn't know 100% that I'm her real father. It's a complicated story. Took me 16 years to find her. I was worried about what happened to the results once we had them. Other copies ect.

One of my favourite books is Sex at Dawn..the authors delve into the origins of sex in pre-history and swinging. The Science of Kissing another great book that explains why we are attracted to some and not others.Your DNA plays an important part in this. And the "kiss". As the song says " it's in his kiss" Men who are sloppy kissers are actually depositing small amounts of testosterone in a woman's or another mans mouth to make the other more likely to want the other person to have sex with them...or so the author predicates...hugs Q

I did the ancestry dna. It came back with what I expected, mainly English, some German but the surprise was the 4% swedish. It did tell me of some relatives that I was connected to that I know are my relatives. My sister asked me if I thought she was similar.. I am like really?

As soon as any relatives, even remote cousins start spitting in jars and mailing them off your dna becomes traceable so there's very little point in paranoia around giving it away in my mind. My results were much as I expected, my exotic husbands' were a lovely surprise, some interesting bits of 2% and 1% from 7 generations back. They can trace back along your maternal and paternal line (mother's, mother's, mother/Father's Father's Father) 150,000 to 250,000 years to the first tribes of the planet. I'd recommend it, although they say x% of kids have 'real' dads and family secrets that bring unexpected results.

No impact at all. I am what i am through my life experiences. I treat everyone equally and never been any different. The differences in me from others is the road i've taken to get to where i am. Can't be judgemental of anyone if you didn't take the exact same road as them to get to where they are. Long live diversity 😊

I have been referred to The Genetic Clinic here in Brisbane and am awaiting results. I do find it very interesting. I'm with Horney's, I'd rather a bit if Irish too. Ok, maybe a bit of Greek. 😎 Ms Foxy

Not had the DNA testing and dont see that I need to. As I have spent last 8yrs researching my family. With over 1000 members logged. Can be very time consuming but interesting. Even had the honour of helping a person who contacted me after the DNA testing. He had little knowledge of his family. But after some research and confirming with marriage certificates. I found his place in my tree and found his father was a identical twin. He was the only one out of 9 in that line that I couldnt locate previously. Was very emotional moment for both of us. I believe I am me part of how my parents raised me, Also part of how I experienced life. We are shaped intially from our youngest experiences. How we choose to live is our own choice.
