read erotica on a regular basis but not on subjects I'm not interested in, like BDSM. However always interested in expanding my interests...in the reading dept that is! Not 50 shades though as I have friends who read it and were not impressed by the egotistical main character and the constant repeats of statements in the text. They found it boring. Every book should have a beginning, body and end (or conclusion). Pretty basic. I feel any good book has to have a good story, whether it's a "proper" book, erotica etc. It has to be moving toward a conclusion and without too many distracting side stories going on. I want confusion I'll buy a jigsaw puzzle with nearly all the same colour tone in it to solve. I really hate cliffhanger endings that leave me with a "WTF... was this solved or not" feeling.

Give me more and more! I don't enjoy the traditional novels supposedly written for females. I prefer lots of short stories written from a first person perspective and telling tales in a graphic raw form and in a detail almost like the cliched Penthouse Forum of old! What many consider to be erotica is just wanna be poor porno drivel..any genre requires that the writer be a skilled writer first ...the best erotica is written by writers ...any dill can write about the mechanics of sex...eg..I shoved my throbbing nob into her wet dripping pussy...Fifty Shades of Yawning...xxFreya

I have read a few, it is hard for the writer to get the balance between literature and porn right to tell a good story. I recall reading recently a story how eBooks and tablets have caused a jump in popularity. No need to face down the checkout person at a bookstore, or be caught in public with a suggestive title or cover. Just an anonymous document on your tablet or phone.

I write it, just privately, for my partners over the years. its kinda of a progressive story.. I find most guys are too visual and don't like to have to read it, but he loves it so I have stated writing again for him.

Mostly, erotica is to literature as porn is to film making. There are exceptions in each, I guess, but most erotica is about as well made as the average sex tape. That doesn't mean that it doesn't have its place - far from it. And if I am in need of some erotic entertainment, I'd much rather read it than watch it - it's pretty painful sorting through the dross though! When I find a well written piece of erotica that has that heady of great writing, setting the scene, and killer sex scenes ... 😍

Stimulates my mind first then my body. I did read 50 shades, it opened up my mind and I've since discovered some incredible literature! There are incredible writers out there though I don't necessarily look at one element I'm interested in, I like reading it all. I like the connections in the storyline to the erotica in it, paint a picture in my mind and I'm lost! Mary xx

You want a genuine critique...it's been my experience that most people just want their work to be liked..and no matter what the content is ,some people will like it and lit won't appeal to others but whether or not someone likes it is irrelevant as to whether or not it's well written xxFreya

I'm quite a fan of a website called Literotica. Some fiction, some non fiction. I guess from a guys point of view you don't really need much of a story, although a little backstory/intro helps set the scene.
