House bought in Brissie Two jobs applied for ... My baby girl graduates from high school next week I’m getting ready to say goodbye to Victoria ... and Hello Queensland :) There are endings and new beginnings in so many aspects of my life ... It’s frightening, exhilarating and exciting. Emotions are running wild ... I’m always a heartbeat away from tears (mostly good) .. I’m going to miss my babies, apparently they’re ready to see me go lol... but we’ve raised amazing, independent young people, I know they’ll be ok :) It’s good bye for now (till the next meet and greet) to many of you. I’ve been fortunate enough to meet many of you and it’s been a pleasure :) I don’t often make individual thanks but there are some wonderful Victorians I need to mention :) Ms. jonesy ... you are an exceptional woman. Thankyou for your care, compassion and friendship over many years. I love you xx Donna and Mick - what a wild ride ... resulting in a wonderful friendship. Xx Shazza and Dazza - mwah xx Annie - mwah xx I’m lucky to have formed some wonderful friendships with many gorgeous Queenslanders 😘 and I’m in really good hands. Mary xx

I have a feathered friend at work. He's a magpie lark, and his name is Basil. The only reason he considers me to be a 'friend' is because I always carry a digestive biscuit in my pocket for him, and a few times a day when I'm out in the yard, I sit down on the ground and he jumps on my knee and I dole out some biscuit to him. Consequently he follows me around whenever I step out of the admin building, in expectation of getting his treat. Today at work, I had to check something in the Emergency Response box on the perimeter fence. I wandered down to the side gate to get out, and when I turned around sure enough Basil was following me down the footpath. So I just stood there, and held the gate open for him to walk out after me. Just like I would for anyone else - it's good manners right? WTF? He's a bird and perfectly capable of flying. Obviously both of us forgot that for a moment. I think I need a holiday lol

I don't care if I'm unpopular for speaking out against this. I have only ever had one profile on this site at any one time ITM & ITM2 when reopened, but don't troll with other profiles, and wish others would be honest and upfront. Apparently the same thing happened at 4 other auctions in my suburb on Saturday? So, yay for me 🙄, I get to keep cleaning - next open is tonight. I’m over it, the boys are over it, just blah! Otherwise, it’s a gorgeous day here in Melbs 🙌🏼👍🏼👌🏼 Might sneak in a back float or two 😉

as I am respectful and mindful of not wanting to or being the cause of this thread being derailed, closed or deleted as I know it would upset a lot of forumites The reason I was posting the way I was is because a poster has reported my whole profile, I made a number of attempts to post to clarify the confusion but none got through because of that reporting. So with regards to the confusion that has been caused not by me in this situation that is definitely not black and white as there are many many shades of grey at play here. Me too. Cockatiels particularly are amazing birds, and I miss mine terribly. Unfortunately, Perry Parrot has bad separation anxiety, and I couldn't bring him up here with me only to leave him alone all day. A good friend of mine took him on, and it's worked out well. She has a son and daughter both at uni but living at home, so they're in and out all day and give him the company and affection he needs. He rules their house, and I crack up at some of the videos she sends me of him 😂

  • RHP

has a poll going at the moment on people's favourite Australian bird. After narrowing it down to a shortlist I ended up voting for the magpie. They are incredibly smart and they can recognise and remember people by their faces, and other animals as well. The best way to avoid being swooped is to take a path that steers fairly clear of the nest (e.g. walk on the other side of the street if you can), so that you're not seen as a threat by the males. We've had magpie families living around us for awhile and we never get swooped. They even leave my dog alone, likely because he's never chased them or shown any interest in them really. They even eat the meat off the bones I give him while he just lies there and watches them

Welcome to summer in the Pilbara 😏 Yeah...I caught a lift up to Hedland airport yesterday afternoon, and it was cooking alright. And still. Pretty sunset though. The sun was already down when I walked out to the plane....and I remember noting the orange glow on the curved white hull and the straight line of the rudder, the flat featureless land all around seeming in sharp contrast. Like a sepia filter on a picture. For such an un-pretty place...it quite struck me at the time. But, I was really tired...with two( very expensive.. ) VB's warming my insides, too. Dazed moments..

There are black back and white backed Magpies. We get white backed Magpies in WA. NZ has feral black back Magpies, which leads to my love and hate relationship with Magpies. As a kid I was paid by my grandfather to kill as many Magpies and Possums as I could, it was five cents for Possums and ten cents for Magpies. Those Maggie's are damn smart and know the difference between a gun and a stick. I'm sure that the Magpies in NZ have evolved to live in a more hostile environment, it's a shame they're so aggressive towards the NZ native birds. Locally I love to feed them and befriend them. Recently on Richard Fidler's Conversations on ABC Radio he interviewed a bird expert who said that they have facial recognition skills and a long memory.

Lots of them. They have their moments and I've never been attacked by one. But Kookaburras are my love. Peachy
