I was really wanting the cowboys to have a win. The last few years have seen the grand final not about which 2 teams are going to be appearing, but which team is going to take on Melbourne storm... Not trying to take anything away from their ability to play good football, but bugger me, it’s becoming a lot like the state of origin in some respects lol - Posted from rhpmobile

Anti... I too was hoping they would win, good for them, the game etc. LD, on the other hand I wasn't looking forward to my FB page being bombarded with Cowboys BS for the next 12 months either. I've already had enough of hearing about the Tigers in the AFL, think I'd have to go offline if the cowboys won too lol. It's all a bit over the top for me really!

Sailbad, that would probably end up as a two way... the origin team you play for is decided by the state where you played your first A-Grade game... and I don't see many of them down here, hence half the Storm playing for Qld.

Is where I keep in touch with my family and friends, organise events, and find out what's going on in the world. It's not so different from here except there's not the focus on sex. I can message anyone I like... I get to post what I like, when I like... and it doesn't cost me a cent!!! There are no male guests to slag off... We're all guests... What more could a girl ask for? Well, though the moderation is minimal... like here, it can be very tightly controlled and people on a mission can give you a hard time if they have an agenda. Not so different! PeachyPearL

For the memes, what else? Why can't RHP have memes?? That would be hilarious, but also dangerous. Every thread would be deleted. I love FB I can keep touch with all my friends and fam, its great for organising events and parties, its the best way I know to see whats on in in terms of music, concerts and events. Also great for joining interest/ selling groups.

Fb has become a really useful free tool. Putting aside the photo sharing and social stuff for a minute, Fb is better than The Yellow Pages ever were. Looking for spare parts for a bike that has no maker anymore, I joined the Fb forum( in the US ) and there's this wealth of info and spares. Same with finding a good local mechanic and a security screen place.....Fb has photos and reviews going back years. It's much more than an improved version of MySpace.. 😖

Quoting 'Koolgrey' Fb has become a really useful free tool. I use FB mostly for finding out information /news / and sharing some of that with other people. There are so many pages and groups dedicated to every single topic you can think of, if you know how to use it properly it's an invaluable information and networking tool. These days it's also used a lot for sharing info and connecting professionally - I'm a member of lots of FB groups dedicated to the different areas that people in my profession work in and you get to connect with and share info with other professionals from all over the world, it's pretty amazing.

I think it's important to dispel the myth that Facebook is 'free'. It is anything but 'free'; the true costs are hidden and seldom considered by most users. It is also important to understand something of the business model (including the number and range of companies in their group of businesses), the function of the Facebook group's algorithms, and the file permissions you must grant as part of the account signup process. Anyone participating on social media and having expressing concern about privacy and discretion really need to take a proper read of the EULAs, T&Cs, and Privacy Policies of all the entities they engage. One of the possible issues of relying on Facebook as a source of news (for example) is that the algorithms are set to populate your feed with suggestions and material consistent with your own past activities. Unless you consciously seek out a range of perspectives, you will very quickly find yourself in an echo chamber and at risk of losing objectivity.
-

I'm well aware that FB isn't 'free', and of its privacy implications. I see it every day when things I've been looking at on websites suddenly pop up in advertisements on my FB feed, among other obvious signs. There's almost nothing in life that doesn't come without some sort of strings / trade-offs / compromises / risks. I've made the decision to continue using FB for now despite those strings / risks. You and others may make a different decision, and that is entirely your prerogative.
-
RHP User
My suggestion wrt the function of algorithms and content appearing in your feed is but one very simple example. I agree this is pretty obvious, however many users remain oblivious. Beyond those operations, it is most important to be aware of that which is not obvious (hence my suggestion wrt the file print - especially file permissions granted on signup to an account - the ramifications of this aspect alone are HUGE !!)

Yeah, Facebook groups are a great resource. Though, I removed myself from the group Perth Beer Snobs this year because it had gotten a bit wanky. The name had been chosen years ago as a tongue-in-cheek appreciation of good beer...but with the membership growing, more than a few wannabe real snobs had joined. I think most of us who use FB, Instagram, Google, Apple or Android products, basically any of the social media and other software put out by the large tech companies, accepts that we're dancing with the devil. As I said, for now my decision is to continue to dance with the devil. I'm not naive, I realise there are legitimate reasons to be concerned about the activities of these companies and that they have some very ethically and legally dubious practices. Every day though I do a whole lot of things that I know are contributing to something bad somewhere in the world - all of us do unless we live completely off grid and self-sufficiently and even then you'd still be having some level of impact on an ecosystem. I have tried and continue to try to modify some of these things I do that I know contribute to the bad in the world because I do feel morally conflicted about a lot of them, but I am just not able or willing to change everything I do because it would literally mean I have no time, money, or ability to do anything else in my life. Again, happy for others to make their decisions about these things based on their own values and priorities. Last I'll say about that.

Again, happy for others to make their decisions about these things based on their own values and priorities. Last I'll say about that. Fair enough. For the benefit of those who are naive, I'll mention the permissions you/they grant Facebook are as follows: Location: Precise location (GPS and network based) Approximate location (Network based) SMS: Read your messages (SMS or MMS) Phone: Write call log Directly call phone numbers Read call log Photos/Media Files: Test access to protected storage Modify or delete contents of your USB storage Camera/Microphone: Take pictures and video Record audio WIFI: View WIFI connections Device ID & Call Information: Read phone status and identity Other: Receive data from the internet Download files without notification Adjust your wallpaper size Create accounts and set passwords Run at startup Prevent device from sleeping View network connections Install shortcuts Change your audio settings Read Google service configuration Toggle sync on and off Draw over other apps Expand/collapse status bar Full network access Change network connectivity Set wallpaper Send sticky broadcast Read battery statistics Reorder running apps Connect and disconnect from WIFI Read sync settings Control vibration Device & App History: Retreive running apps Identity: Find accounts on the device Add or remove accounts Read your own contacts card Contacts/Calendar: Read calendar events plus confidential information Add or modify calendar events and send email to guests without owner's knowledge Read your contacts Modify your contacts... Some dance, huh? It is also significant to note a vast array of information is also gathered from non-members/account holders who visit Facebook pages/profiles (via cookies, including other sites visited after leaving the Facebook site)... Prof Vladan Joler of Share Labs (the source of this particular list) also specifies information pertaining to various other social media organisations (which all are similar). Share Labs' infographics are a sight to behold - really quite beautiful.

Sometimes you need to know when to let things slide. Perhaps start a new topic if you want to keep posting about it. Firstly, I have never recommended (much less advised or directed) anyone close their Facebook (or any other) account. Nor have I sought explanation from anyone as to how or why they choose to participate in Facebook (or any other form of social media). Many people here have posted comments to the effect they are concerned about privacy and/or discretion. Via the RHP forum recently, one member here even informed of having been 'outed' in her physical local community. I have merely suggested there are a number of very distinct possibilities; some of which many would appear not to have considered. Now, you have stated you are sufficiently informed as to Facebook's structure and function ("I'm not naive.") I clearly stated my post (listing file permissions) was for the benefit of others. You may have noticed I did not specifically address my post to you and this is a publicly available/viewable forum.

It is what it is. All social media and internet usage is, and I accept and manage the risks I expose myself to with judicious use of security, privacy functions, cleaning programs and minimal use of apps. It's generally served me well, and what others do is their business. And I'm not even trying. And when I cross the street, I look both ways...when I change lanes, I look over my shoulder...when I use an ATM, I try to cover the keypad a bit...and before I go to bed, I set an alarm if I have to work tomorrow. I don't do anything I consider wrong, so I'm not about to let paranoia and fear of being watched take over, either. Why would I? And what do I care if corporations know my likes and dislikes? Great. I'm a consumer.Heck, I even have a strip of black tape covering my laptop camera right now....I never used it anyway. This freedom of information and cyber security is another managed risk of living within a community that I'm fine living with. Regularly getting around a big city on a motorbike safely is higher a priority to me.

Quoting 'Tall_n_Hard' or overinflate their bust size. Appears RHP measuring tapes are a popular item lol. a lot of men don't really have very accurate ideas about boob sizing. A lot of men seem to think D boobs should be really big, when actually a D cup is probably the average boob size (does depend on the overall build of the woman as well of course, on a small framed woman D cups will look bigger). I'm a C cup but most men would probably think I'm lying about that from my pics. Could possibly have something to do with ladies of years gone past, when most ladies were a bit more "demure" and a larger bust size was a bit more obvious - and indeed a 'D' size (or larger) was considered a large size. But I have done my homework and know how the cup sizes are determined (underboob v on boob) and think I can generally give a good guess, good enough to see if a lady is perhaps being a bit generous with herself (and probably other guys are in the same boat). And may I compliment you on your rather fine 'C' cups in your current profile pic with your octopussy pendant. Tall

My ex-wife used to derisively assess breast size as measured in pencils*. ie the number of pencils that could be held side by side (horizontally) under the breast. After childbirth, she became fixed on/determined to undergo breast augmentation. * Any time we were out, she'd critique most all of the people we encountered; dress and bearing, physically characteristics, material possessions, name it. She could always find something nasty and personal to pick away at. Frequently, and especially if she had been drinking, she was not very subtle either). I'm now more than seven years free of her. (Yay for me, though I worry for her influence over my kids!) My point is, I think the important thing is to be more mindful of health (function) and comfort (bra fitting), rather than obsessing over efforts to conform to ideals peddled by fashionistas... An honest survey of men would reveal most are not nealy as critical as some women would seem to believe. In fact, I think women tend to be far more critical of one another in that regard.

I definitely don't have any desires to conform to perceived societal ideals, I'm fine with my boobs the way they are and the guys who want the big ones can just scroll past as per with any other preference.

Quoting 'CandyDelicious'my BF said is a cult movie - boy is it trippy! actually did pretty poorly in terms of box office when it was first released, but over the years it definitely gained a cult popularity. I think it was something pretty revolutionary when it was released and it's not the sort of movie that would have appealed to the masses. It took me a couple of times watching it to really start to appreciate it, and I just watched it again a few months ago and saw even more things I'd missed the first couple of times. I think it's that sort of movie, that takes a few viewings to understand all the themes and everything that's going on.Apparently the sequel also didn't do all that well opening weekend in the U.S. so maybe it will be the same sort of pattern with that one.

I was really impressed.I wasn't even that determined/inspired to go see it...just thought i'd give it a go as I'd read decent things from the reviews. And it was a Sunday morning and I had no plans.I'd read that millennials are not that impressed with the first one, and I'm not surprised...it is a bit slow by todays expectations of scifi. But this sequel has really captured the feel, the vibe, of Bladerunner and carried it on pretty seamlessly. It doesn't even feel like a vehicle for Harrison Ford in the way that The Force Awakens does. That dirty, gritty, wet, raining, multilingual future. Johnny Mnemonic and others nearly got it right, but this was perfect.

Rutger Haeur's "tears in the rain" monologue is one of my most moving moments in cinema, a beautiful death. The 2049 movie is a great sequel worth seeing, it does the original justice and leaves the door open for more. What I love about this concept is the whole AI moral spiritual conundrum it raises. When I looked at the Size Chart of a large lingerie shop for an online purchase recently, I realised that I could be a D cup or an A cup simultaneously! For instance, if someone's a 10D, then they can also be a 12A. The numerals are for the girth measurements under the boobs, whilst the cup sizes are the circumference measurements of the largest part of the boobs. In addition, 10D boobs will look "smaller" compared to an 18D boob. The verdict: - Women may not be lying about their breast sizes - most men just don't understand how bra sizing works; and - Unfortunately, contraptions like the push up's, and the "chicken fillets" can portray a not-too-accurate impression of the real boobies size of the owner. Consider too, that too many porn actresses have had Breast Augmentations done and when men spend a disproportionate amount of time getting acquainted with their favorite porn stars' anatomy on screen, they might forget that real boobs aren't perky forever, they may or may not be symmetrical, and they do sag with age.

Thanks for the return. I wasn't aware of the measuring of the circumference also came into play (although it does make sense). I knew the numerical was for the body size under boob, and the alphabetical was for the cup size, although I was more comfortable with the previous fashion of actual body size measured in either imperial or metric. I still understand the size measurements you have mentioned, but they're just not the same lol. I find it interesting in the case you have mentioned going from a 10D to a 12A - sounds a bit drastic. Going up a single size I thought would have not had such a large drop in cup style ! Shows I got to learn a little more still. As far as the porn situation goes, I realize (and I hope most guys do too) that fake boobs are usually readily identified and don't have the same characteristics as real boobs. There is one that readily comes to mind - an Asian actress named "Minka" who has really gone for the lot - she has been active for quite a number of years and I guess she is at an older age nowadays, but her boobs are still pretty much the same as when she first had them filled out. Just too unrealistic, and doesn't really look good. Tall

I just learnt about the sizing thang recently myself. 😛 I was soooo desperate to get hold of a Playboy bra and knickers set, and my bra size had apparently sold out, so I scrutinised the sizing chart to see if I could squish mine into the available sizes. 🤣 Soooo... I can either declare that I'm a D or an A in my profile and it would be completely legitimate. However, I decided to opt for a C in my profile mainly because men have no clue about cup sizing and I don't want to disappoint and burst any ardent man's bubble! Lol! My boobs keep shrinking too. 😐😕 Everytime I lose weight, the boobies get smaller. 😦😭 The areas that ought to shrink don't and they cling on stubbornly to the fat. 😒😞 At the rate I'm going, I hope I don't experience further deflations of my precious balloons! 😛 Boobs or Bust, to complicate things even further, different shops can use different sizing! Worse, different brands within the same store may utilise different measurements! So, one can be 10D for one brand, but only 10B for another brand, within the same store! Lol! 😛

Yep it’s goodbye to my gals. Once I lost weight, D to A. No matter what combo I throw at them it’s always an A game. Oh well, tough titty I guess 😛 - Posted from rhpmobile

Just wished l could of played with them longer lol 😉 - Posted from rhpmobile I would hope that a reasonable progress would have been made in the intervening years - she has been going for quite some time, let alone as to when boob jobs were first started. From my own obsevations, the methods of enhancement have improved so that the actual surgery scars are almot non detectable, but the end result is still pretty much the same. The enhanced breasts still stick upright and have no discernable movement - they seem to be in one permanent position. I hope that they do find a better method, not just for the cosmetic aspect, but also for the women who do have either smaller breasts and would like a bit of filling, or for those women who may not have had the choice in the matter and need augmentation / reconstruction after illness or disease. there's things she can do or may have needed to be told about to soften them up and get them to move around more naturally ,but it does depend on a few things like what was used and the type of placement ,but i can tell you ,some are thy good ones ,most can't tell the difference unless they know what they are looking for , but in general to soften them up it's massage massage and massage them more for a year after surgery , mr b - Posted from rhpmobile

Bladerunner 2049...saw it, overall liked it a lot. Some parts I loved, some parts not so much though. I think the parts I didn't like so much were due to the inevitable modern 'Hollywoodisation' of it compared to the original. Visually spectacular though, as I was sure it would be. There are quite a lot of articles going around about how it's a very misogynistic film (along with the original), but a lot of people including me see those themes about how the female replicants / AI beings are treated as purposeful reflections on how women are valued and treated in our own society, and what could very likely happen with the development of AI and all the ethical and moral implications of that. I don't think it's condoning the often terrible treatment of the female characters but showing what can happen when a multitude of factors come together to create a society like that. Without giving away any spoilers, one scene in particular resonated with me on a personal level...I saw it as a very obvious reference to one of the major things that women are valued for and that if they can't or don't want to do that then they are literally disposable.

I didn't pick up any misogyny? I picked up that people were dispensable, i.e. Replicants, and people with disabilities re, people left behind.
