Mom visited last week. all good. she did a bit of digging into my fridge and cleaned up half of it. and then also dug into my freezer and cooked half my meat stash. all good. kids loved it. last night as preparing to make tonight's dinner, my spring roll wrappers were gone. I'm sure i bought some the prev week to make easy snacks in the freezer for my boys. have I gone mad? has she thrown away my wrappers? Called her up to find out where they went. Her answer : 'Yep. got it. it's in my freezer'. Nonchalantly... Palm to face. Who the hell goes to another person's house and nicks their spring roll wrappers for themselves? Sigh..... I work as a casual employee for one of the big retailers and often get rostered shifts cancelled. There are aspects of the arrangement that suit me. However on Wednesday, I am in the shower at 1.21 pm just getting ready to go to work for a 2 pm start (when the phone rings. ( I always answer as elderly mother not doing to good and dripping wet could not read who it was). Supervisor from work. "what time do you leave home? Me " in 10 minutes". Supervisor "OK I am giving you the day off"Me (stunned) right. So once the steam from my nostrils had defogged my brain I sent a text to the manager and supervisor telling them how pissed off I was at 38 minutes notice and that they were in breach of the EBA. I quoted the relevant clauses of EBA just to show that I can read too!!! End result, received an apology from the manager and they paid me for the shift. Unfortunately some employers and supervisors forget that staff are people too.

My eldest daughter lives about 6 km's away in a straight line. She only has a mobile and uses that for contact (to my landline). A good 50%+ of the time, I can't hear her properly (and vice-versa), or the line will drop out. Who is she with ? Vodafail. You lot in the outposts are not alone with poor service. Tall

Got dates confirmed for my Overseas work posting. Leave near end of the month for about 3 weeks. Longer than I anticipated and wanted. A big 3 weeks - looks like long hours ahead and little time for personal time off to look around the place. Most of all, I am going to miss my boys....
