Quoting 'Summersolstice' My apologies again, not that you've seen it what do you think? I was saying from the start that Nikki wouldn't the one because she wasn't a big focus at the start so it wasn't a huge surprise...Still, a little surprising that he went with someone on the other side of the country with a child when someone that seemed perfect for him was only an hour away. I read an interview with Nikki though and she said that while she Richie were great on paper you just can't argue with passion and chemistry (or something to that effect). Everything I read/hear about her just makes me respect her even more. So full of class! I did like Alex at first but her school girl crush behaviour was cringeworthy after a while and she got on my nerves! Interesting to see how long that one lasts, but honestly I hope they are happy together Who were you rooting for?!

Quoting 'LittleGiant' Who were you rooting for?!the trouble with the whole season was knowing it came down to those 2 from the first episode - and as much as I liked Nikki (and got a bit meh on Alex as the season went on), Alex can kiss like a demon (also her pose in the archery comp *biting knuckle*) If you go back through the episodes and see how she kisses, you'd get less Oxytocin pumping through Richie if you took a syringe full of the stuff and jabbed him. That was the lock on the season. (I thought the chocolate tub looked fun) I wanted him to pick Nikki and go live happily ever after, but knew it wasn't going to happen (that was just such a boring season overall though, I don't think Richie's 'nice guy but overwhelmed and just happy to be here' thing that got him the gig i the first place, gave him the right personality for holding interest as a lead - those sort of leads always seem to have ho-hum seasons. Like Ben Higgins or Jojo. Good as contestant, not so as the lead. Contrast that with Brad Womack) After a great season of Bachelor in Paradise, I'm super keyed up to see how Nick goes on Bachelor USA, that guy knows how to work the system well enough, and seems tight with Elan and the other crew, he should earn himself a killer edit. (live tweeting every episode doesn't make you an obsessive fan, right?) erm, I mean, beer, local sports team, boobs and manly stuff... My steam - that Married at First Sight AU shitshow, and they're doing 10 couples next season! wish they'd just admit "we paired up these couples to produce drama, and one couple so dull we'll just show beige instead of them" aka Mark n Monica

Glass, ice, scotch, getting close, I can almost taste it. Open a new bottle of coke and forget it's been rolling around in transit from the shop, sprays all over the kitchen, over the stove, downs the cupboards so close, stop, clean up, regroup and get the coke in the glass this time instead of spraying it through the house. By now the first one doesn't even hit the sides

Sorry to hear you're sick. Apart from the usual rest, fluids, moisture in the air and pain relief - there's a very old remedy that's quite good: 1 medium clove of garlic, 1 lemon, 1tsp of honey and some warm water. Crush the garlic and drop it into a glass with the juice of the lemon. Drop the honey in and top up with warm water. Stir it up and drink. You can have it two to three times a day until your symptoms ease. It's especially good for colds where you have a sore throat and a dry cough. Sounds quite revolting but you can add more honey. And if your sinuses are bad before you fly, Sudafed will help a little also. Sending healing vibes x

With regards to massage table (if you're serious) - Google deals on them. Have been looking myself very recently, and there are heaps going for good prices. Make sure you buy one of the larger sized ones - I have been on a few lately and they're just too bloody small for me. Feet hang over the ends, and they are too narrow, and I get sore shoulders from trying to keep a balance on them (which kinda defeats the purpose). There are a number that are longer length, and also have detachable arm rests, for not much more than the 'basic' models. If you can afford the little extra, I would recommend you go that way. Much better for the recipient. Tall

Of course I will end up at the dance concert, but can I just pretend I have a choice in this for a little bit? #parentingdilemma911 Soft... I'm going to go against the grain here... Obviously you know what you will feel comfortable with, but I think it's ok for you to go to your event, or to at least think about it... Is there someone else important to your daughter who could go instead? I don't think it needs to be a case of you letting her down, as such... If you approach it as something special to have another person attend, and not make a huge deal about you missing it (try not to let your guilt shine through!!) she will probably not hold onto it as a long term issue... you will be at most of the others concerts, sports, etc. for the rest of her life... I know my boys are older, but they have always been pretty good at encouraging me to do things for me, I think because they know that I'm present and engaged in their stuff 99% of the time... I think that it's ok for our kids to know that we have a life outside of them, and while they are our priority, we also need to sometimes do something for ourselves, even if it means missing something of theirs. I'm not sure if I'm expressing myself well... I'm not advocating absent parenting, just don't think it has to be all or nothing... xx

I do believe your use of "et al" was incorrect in this instance. There was only one author of the post; the abbreviation is only used where there is multiple authors, and you have previously listed them in full elsewhere in your writing. This is not an invitation for you to reply with a history of the use of the abbreviation, its origins, nor it's current accepted use in academic writing. Cos bro, this ain't no academic fora. 😊 😜 So I ask you to spare us all from that horror.

So fucking sick of it. Would I be correct to understand you refer here to the thread concerning Feminism (and me in particular)? no, different thread IMO. Quoting 'MsJonesy' I do believe your use of "et al" was incorrect in this instance. There was only one author of the post; the abbreviation is only used where there is multiple authors, and you have previously listed them in full elsewhere in your writing. at first I agreed, but on reflection I'm not so sure since the "and others" could also be extended to "people who liked the post" indicating some sort of agreement and/or echoing of the views in the post. It isn't restricted to only refer to authors, it is just that most people only ever use et al in relation to academic/very formal writing. But I'm pretty sure Ontology was wrong and LD meant a different thread (can't recall which one though)

-

Ms Jonesy, re: "et al": In using this short form, I am addressing all of the people who've discussed/posted on the particular theme/narrative articulated within the post(s) in the thread. In threads such as this one and the "Everything & Nothing" thread (especially, though not exclusively), there is more than only one single aspect to discuss (or being discussed) within the thread topic. This frequently occurs across multiple threads, multiple posts, and by multiple people. SOTL, Q, Luck Dragon, re: "Would I be correct to understand you refer here to the thread concerning Feminism (and me in particular)?" With my statement to Ms Jonesy hereinabove in mind, it may be recognised there are themes which have carried over from one thread to another. Examples of this would include the current threads pertaining to 'Feminism', 'Second Dates' and the 'Everything & Nothing' thread amongst others. As it happens, it is pretty clear I have drawn Luck Dragon's and Q's ire in the 'Feminism' thread (amongst other posters and other threads) in recent days (and longer), so my question in response to Luck dragon's post might be considered a logical query. In any event, ad hominem attack is a poor substitute for a reasoned discussion. An objective view aided by means of proper linguistic parsing (ie. use of dictionary*) will clearly demonstrate as false and baseless the accusatory and vilifying language (such as "biased man-haters", "gaslighting" etc) which so frequently appears in the forum. This applies whether it pertains to me, or anyone else. (* As we all are participating online, obviously we do all have access to a range of Dictionaries. Some people may either presume to know the meaning of a word or a phrase without actually knowing it (in its appropriate and intended context), or may not bother to check when they are unsure). Pink_Sprinckles, Q, re: Separate Crime/Law Fora (non-RHP) and/or starting new threads Various Laws and Legal Principles are relevant to many of the thread topics discussed within the RHP fora. It does not make any sense to start separate threads to handle those aspects relevant to an existing thread topic. Also, calls for censorship of views with which you do not personally agree is a poor substitute for mature, rational discussion between adults. How much time is wasted, opportunities missed, or problems encountered by people (in life generally) because someone was not aware of relevant legal considerations? The truth is what it is; whatever anyone's perception. In fora such as these, we all have opportunity to share our knowledge and we potentially may acquire or adjust our perceptions nearer to the truth of any given topic. Beyond the foregoing, not all participants in the RHP fora are interested in meeting others on the basis of basic physical attraction alone. If you are, that is entirely fine by me; I do not stand in your way. Why would you or anyone else presume to dictate to me or others what personal attributes we might seek, or how we might assess compatibility with other potential partners? A dissenting view expressed in a mature rational discussion is not bigotry. Any call for censorship would be.

I believe you owe someone an apology? You stated above "in any event, ad hominem attack is a poor substitute for a reasoned discussion." You rebutted Summer's comment by addressing her person. Yes we all have access to a multitude of online Dictionaries. But consider the platform you are on and the audience you're addressing. To quote Red Hot Pie forums help "We like to view the Forums as a big party for open-minded adults and as party guests, you can choose the topic of conversation with your fellow party-goers. However, you should mingle the forums exactly as though you are in an actual social setting in real life." I'm not suggesting you "dumb down" your language for the common folk here - but you attract more flies with honey. We aren't here to reform the civil justice system, although that could be a thread. Why do you insist on picking apart posters' comments, correcting their language and suggesting that we should be accessing a dictionary before posting? You may have a fondness for the English language and it's great you have a passion for it. However some of us would rather spend the time we have on here seeking advice, letting off steam, having a laugh and talking about fucking. Rather than spend our time looking up definitions of words for comments we want to post, which most people seem to grasp regardless.

Quoting 'SoftandCurious' I believe you owe someone an apology? You stated above "in any event, ad hominem attack is a poor substitute for a reasoned discussion." You rebutted Summer's comment by addressing her person. ? Are you referring to the my quote from fictional character, Johnny Spiteri (re: taking a cheque)? That was merely my appropriate (in the circumstances) use of a pop cultural reference neither owned by, nor directed at Summer! I've not yet seen all of the movie "Gettin' Square', but if you watch the full Courtroom scene, you might see how I thought it illustrative...

So I read the online news at lunchtime... Brangelina no more... I do love this couple, so genetically blessed and successful. Am still Team Jolie all the way. Read in another paper that Jennifer Aniston has been smugged and said that the divorce was Karma. That is just insensitive. Geez... Get over the rejection, Jen.

Seems to be lots of big words, foreign words, legal words and educated words being bandied around lately. Not sure if it's intended to big note themselves or belittle those of us with limited education.I only went to year 9 and a bit. Think I passed year 9. So I must be uneducated in the sense. But I left school and enrolled in the university of life. Still enrolled and not sure when I graduate. Next year.....20 years, 30 years. I graduate when I close my eyes for the last time.So I don't get all the educated jargon and foreign words. And I have no wish to get out the dictionary. I'm too busy learning at my university. School of big knocks. Whatever you want to call it.Do I regret it? Hell no. If i go to a party and there is someone using the big words and the fancy speech, a quick hello, pleasantries and move on to the crowd of people out the back having a blast, telling dirty jokes and enjoying each others company. They are more my type of people. Enjoying life and using user friendly words that we all learnt at the university of life.So excuse me if I dont pick up on the fancy words. I just move on. I'm sure many do, so your point may well be missing it's target. But don't mind me, I'm just an uneducated bitch. What the fuck do I know.

Doesn't that headline pop up about every 2nd week ?How many times have they been separated / divorced so far ? Tall

Quoting 'CandyDelicious' You believe Jen would make that comment. Seriously? I'm not really into celebrity news and only just saw that those two have split, but from what I know about the situation I doubt that Jennifer would have said anything nasty. From the beginning she's been pretty tight-lipped and classy about the whole thing - particularly considering it's very likely that he cheated on her with Angelina - and I can't see that she'd start bad-mouthing anyone publicly now. There are rumours that Brad cheated on Angelina with a co-star and although I know it's all gossip it wouldn't surprise me if he did. Best predictor of future behaviour is past behaviour and all that. Can't say I'm much of a fan of either of them, except for Angelina's humanitarian work.

Exactly, that's exactly what I do, escape the boring intellectual numbing conversation and join the people having a blast, or they'd join me

I'm referring to the following paragraph you posted in the feminine thread: "In this instance I suspect your objection to my post may stem from some error in comprehension of my words, or filtering on your part. Upon reflection (if I understand correctly) English is your second language, and your heritage is German. In this case I suppose you might feel highly sensitive to a word such as 'feminazi'. Once again, I assure you offence is not my intent." Annie - was that school of big knocks or big cocks? 😉 There's a difference between intelligence and education. The ones I learn from the most are those who have many battle scars, not those who just have doctorates (hats off to those who achieved that level of education, I commend you). And no to whoever thinks it - I don't need an argument about intelligence being pointless without education. Betty 😂😂😂😂

You are an autodidact..a person who is self educated, not uneducated.Clearly you are educated and well informed. Unfortunately sometimes people lack emotional and social intelligence which you clearly have heaps of..a high IQ as per the tests,is not necessarily a useful thing IMO..it certainly doesn't help in the winning friends and influencing people stakes.
